I've had this in the back of my mind since seeing ROTF in theaters, and haven't really been able to work it out. Both "What I've Done" and "New Divide" function as closings to their respective movies with deep relevancy to the movies' meanings, plots, and motifs. However, I'm baffled by how the second closing to ROTF, "Let it Go", relates to the plot of ROTF at all or has any relevancy to the movie whatsoever. Who needs to let what go? And why?

    "Let it Go" by Tavo

Wait it out till the light
Take a breathe, say good night
    But don’t ever go away

Wait around to find the time
Only you can take what’s mine
    But don’t ever go away

I’ll be waiting….I need to let it go

    (chorus)
Fade it out into the light
All these years we never get it right
I need to let it go

    No more reasons to denied
That I believed that you were mine
I need to let it go

A chance to change or stay the same
One night with out the blame
    That don’t ever go away

Only you can make it right
To walk away with out a fight
    But don’t ever go away

I’ll be waiting…I need to let it go

    (chorus)

    I wish you’d let me go…

    Any (serious) ideas?

I doubt that's it. The other endings were chose very deliberately to encompass themes of the movies. I'm sure there is some relevant depth to this selection--I just can't make the connection...

The movies had meanings, plots, and motifs? I think you're giving the Bayformers crew more credit than they deserve.

I'm sorry, as much as Linkin Park wrote New Divide 'especially' for Transformers 2, there has to come a time where you will realise all of the songs in a movie are just there because they need to be sold, because they are currently hip. No relation to the movie whatsoever.

Addendum: Unless said movie is a musical, or a Pixar film.

I never thought of any meaning behind any soundtrack choices for films like this.

Mainly because there never is any meaning. >_>
