Looks good, I'm actually looking forward to this book and I haven't been buying much in the way of IDW's Transformers comics at all.

 

A bit confusing. Hopefully the colour will make things more discernable.
I'm actually looking forward to this non-Furman TF comic. It might even have a beginning, middle & end instead of just meandering from one place to the next.

 

Is Megs a ... MINER?!   Looks like he has a energy "pick" in his left hand and a crystal in the other.

The Autobot's staging a gladiator thing really doesn't sound too "autobot-ish", doesn't it?

 

I need some of this!

 

Judging just by these pages, it looks like they're going with the Decepticons being some kind of oppressed mining/gladiator class who rises up... I'm not sure if I like that, or the way most of the first Cons are right there in their yellow hazard striping right at the beginning. Somehow doing Megatron's origin, and trying to squeeze the Decepticons' origin into the same story feels like too much simplification to me.

you'd be wrong there. i didn't add any of the first bots in that pic. i made them up, or used some of the more harder to find japanese tf's. as for the rest, well there more then what you think. your just looking at pages 4 and 5. who knows what will be coming up. well i do, but i can't really say right now.

My guess? Autobots used Decepticons as slaves.

 

This is just a quick question not only for this series but for IDW's TF series in general:

Have we ever seen Optimus or Megatron's pre-Earth alt mode? I can gather that Megatron is some kind of tank and Optimus is some kind of weird truck, but is there any official art of this?

It's the Transformers remake of "The Big Boss" with Megatron now playing the role of Cheng Chao-an. Bruce Lee would be so proud!

 

No offense to Alex Milne, but I've never much enjoyed the idea of Autobots and Decepticons being pre-existing castes before the war began. It just sorta typecasts some of the characters, you know? It looks an awful lot Starscream is in one of the panels, and Milne already mentioned that other on-panel characters are reinventions of japan-only TFs. We've already seen Grimlock and Jetfire as possible Decepticons in other continuties - and with them being mining slaves, I could see Brawn or Hound in there.

Granted, it is always nice to see that Megatron wasn't always a ranting lunatic who just happened to gather some equally insane buddies. And I hate the idea of Autobots as total goody-goodies with equal fervor. For all I know, these guys are being forced into heavy labor because they deserved it.
