I just had an idea for a contest that Bay&Co. could do.

What if there was a contest that you design a Transformer and it would be featured in the movie? Not a big role or anything but maybe include it in a few small scenes firing at a Deception/autobot (Depending on your design's allegiance)

    So here's the prize idea

    -Featuring your character in RoTF
-A toy made on your design

Not just that but you recieve some of the money generated off from the sales your figure makes. Yes I know the odds of this actually happening are very low but one can dream. I remember the "design a transformer" contest on here a few months ago and the designs were awesome. I'd love to see my custom character featured on the big screen :D

Considering the kind of talent that came out for the contest here, I don't even know if I'd want to enter.

Didn't Josh Nizzi win one such comp when ROTF came out? I wonder if he'd 'win' this one.

I think I know the one you're taking about, and he made the "example" robot. A reskinned Bumblebee won that contest.

Though I guess you could sar Mr. Nizzi won the ultimate contest, what with actually working on the movie and all.

And we got a very early leak on Long Haul's design as a consequence. ;)

Very cool idea, but too expensive to implement.

The best situation a winner could hope for would be similar to one I remember for the old Sega Genesis game Vectorman, where they asked fans to design their own morph mode for the character. A static image of the winner's design was put on a random screen accessible from the main menu.

At best I feel like a winner in a contest like this would have a low res video clip of their character transforming from alt to bot mode on the TF movie website.

Isn't it a bit unfair for someone entering the contest who is already getting paid for doing the same thing for what the contest is based off of?

Try saying that five times fast :lol

It seems that the USA Today contest was indeed won by a Bumblebee-alike that transformed into a Nissan GT-R. From memory Josh Nizzi was involved with another competition? I can't find the damn thread. :(

    It's a god-awful meme but... this.

It was the USA Today contest John was in. He openly admitted in his submission that he worked on the movie and could understand if disqualified.

Hope this actually makes it to TF3. It's a cool design

Cool idea, but I doubt it would ever happen.

Bay and Hasbro probably have MANY ideas for robots that they'd like to see in TF3, and most of the potential ideas won't make it into the film anyway. I don't really see them making room for a fan-character when they aren't even getting all of the robots they want into the movie.
Plus, there's no way that Hasbro could make a toy out of a fan-designed character. They have to go through a whole design process with the concept art team to how it will transform and such.

Yes I think I pointed that out already that the possiblities of this happening are incredibly low-impossible. Thanks for restating that :)

Kind of, especially in a public contest, but considering soliciting professionals for design work as a sort of "contest" is pretty much what happens now, it doesn't seem like there's much point. Limiting it to professionals, especially ones who work in a "style" that matches how the director wants things to look, allows the production to not only get more consistent results without having to wade through a bunch of entries they don't want, but also allows them to keep better controls over what information is released to the public.

It's a cool idea, but not necessarily one that could work. Besides, they already had enough trouble shoehorning in characters they wanted in ROTF, I don't see why they should make it even harder on themselves.
