Percussion/drum set...including bells, whistles, xylophone and timpani... All saxes Hammered dulcimer
I spent 1.5 years with the sax when i started band, but never could get into it. so i went to percussion, and stuck with it during the HS years. Only dabbled with a drum set during those years. i wouldn't mind getting a digital drum kit and practicing quietly in my tidy home. i have always had a hard time with sight reading- hated having sight reading tests in class, lol.
i play clarinet in band at my high school, i'm a guitar noob, and i'm wanting to buy a bass does anyone know of a decent one that doesn't cost over $150, i've been looking but i haven't found one i like yet, Thanks
Played my grandfather's sax in middle school. It was pretty cool at the time. Everyone else had these fancy shiny gold saxes and I had this dull sterling silver looking one. Plus after taking it to a music shop to get the pads fixed I was told that it was pretty unplayable, but it worked for me. I doubt I could play much but Hot Cross Buns or maybe the Peanuts song nowadays though. I also own an Ibanez 5-string bass that I never learned to play. I should probably sell it and my amp, as they're currently just taking up space.
Ah, a gear thread.... excellent. My guitars include: Paul Reed Smith Custom 22 Carvin DC400 Rickenbacker 360 Gibson ES-175 Les Paul Classic Les Paul Custom Fender Am. Std. Strat Fender Am. Std. Strat w/ Roland Synth electronics Rickenbacker 360 (12) Gibson 335 Gibson SG Carvin Bolt (one of the kits you put together) six acoustics, all various Ovation models basses - Fender P, J, and an old Gibson Ripper All in storage.
I'm sure you'll take me on that one, Draven... I think you've posted stats and pics before. Before my studio got painted lavender & pink and became a nursery, it included a Korg M1, X5D, Z3, and my personal favorite, the MS-20 (for those of us who could never afford a Minimoog Let's see... and an old Alesis drum machine from the early 90's, a Roland Guitar Synth, a couple dozen pedals, a buttload of miscellaneous stuff... plus I've still got my old band's PA system in storage, too... Mackie 24-track mixing board and 2 Mackie amps - can't remember the stats. And a Roland 16-track digital recorder... can't remember the model. My guitar gear has been slimmed down... I have a super-old Marshall head from the early 70's and 2 4x12 cabs, a Peavey tube head w/ 2 4x12 cabs, and an old Kustom tuck and roll solid-state head as backup. Ah, good times. Feels like a lifetime ago that I used any of that stuff.
Doooo iiiiit! If we're going to do some gear lists, it's easier for me to do this: That's my main kit...I also have an old 5-piece Pearl Export kit and a set of Roland V-Drums...and a marching snare and set of tenors (quints) that I use to teach my camps with.
I use to use the bells (It's like the xylophone).....It's too bad i can't read notes,i probably could of went somewhere with it.
Nice setup, d00d! I would SO love an MS-20; I have a VSTi version that I use heavily in Cubase. Oh alright then. I'm getting a new drum kit for Christmas, whats a cheap drum kit that is very good? I'm looking for a Pearl or maybe a Mapex under $2,000.
Drums...my life! I studied at Music Tech in Minneapolis, graduated in 1997, toured around the country in various bands, and now I teach.
I'd love to have an MS-20. I passed on one going for a decent price in the late 90s and I've been kicking myself ever since. I'm mainly a synth guy, but I play guitar, bass, and ukulele on the side. I've heard rumours that Roland used Australia and New Zealand as a testing ground back in the 80s, which is why they account for such a high percentage of used synths in these parts.
