Why not create entirely new Autobots/Decepticons to fight in TF3?
Because everyone would rave about their favourite Transformers not present in the movie. Sure it doesn't matter cos they don't even have any similiarities to their original counterparts, but the way they have done it now is the best.
And people haven't done that already?
I mean, not have the whole team be made up of new characters, but have one or two..
1. Using existing characters saves money because you don't have to copyright new ones.
2. It makes fanboys happy to see their favorite characters on screen.
3. They tried that back in 1984. Remember how well that worked?
They probably will. I mean, for the most part, there are a lot of new bots in the movies already and I'm sure the next one will introduce even more.
I don't think you would ever get an entirely new cast because Hollywood likes to hedge it's bets with known names and Hasbro would throw a big fit if Prime and Megatron were not in it since we get those two every series.
But new characters are a nice touch to say this is different than the other incarnations. Of course the trick will be to give those new robots some character since the films have been rather light on character.
A lot of what we've been getting are just nameslaps, not necesarily remaking the old characters exactly. A lot of characters ARE new, they just don't have new names.
You mean like Jolt, Skids, Mudflap, "Reedman", Scalpel, Alice, Blackout, Barricade, etc.? In other words, they already did create entirely new characters for both movies so far.
I think you mean 1986.
you are scaring me, I mean in ROTF we got a shi# load of new characters but it was totally pointless because there were no decent lines given to any of them.
And now TF3 we will get new robots in the film?, completely forgetting to touch up on what happen to all the robots in ROTF? No. please sir, that would be wrong.
Personally I'd like to have Bay or Paramount go back and find out what happen to those constructicons, JOLT, Arcee bikes, twins & sideswipe...etc.
Hasbro & Dreamworks/Paramount wouldn't dump Bumblebee & Prime considering the money they can make with familiar faces that are starting to etch themselves into recent pop culture (on some level), let alone the other familiar characters that are known to kids thanks to film like Megs, Starscream, Ironhide, Ratchet, Sideswipe, etc.
I just want a bunch of new characters so we can get toys of most of them, but I don't want them at the expense of Prime or the others.
Ironhide and Ratchet already suffered this fate. And basically Arcee, Sideswipe, Jolt, and every Decepticon besides Megatron and Starscream as well.
The only new characters that were focused on were the Twins, Leo, and Wheelie.
Just an idea, but it'd have been quite intriguing if they'd two separate teams of TFs (ie one for TF1 and another for TF2) and then brought them together for a third film.
so simply said
"More is less" no?
implanting more transforming into a very cluttered cast is hap hazard.
Better leave them new boys in toys and mini series
remember in g1 transformers how people complained in season three how all the season one and two or most season one and two characters were gone. weel thats how people would feel about those movie characters not beign there.
I agree with the first two points, but as for the third one... no comment.
I agree with what T+C agreed with.
My whole thing with the new film is if Bay could have at least some sympathy towards the stroy that he's told so far by bringing back Barricade, and to go in depth of where he's been.
The second thing would be to explain (in TF3) the fate of the twins, sideswipe, arcee, jolt and any other character that seemed to just dissapear in the past two films, those minor details don't seem like a lot, but it helps out by filling in the missing blanks in the stories.
Lastly, new characters is great, as long as they don't replace anyone and not explain while at it.
