You know how most fans regard the first movie to be superior to ROTF? I just had a crazy idea. What does everyone think of the idea of making a fan edit of the first movie by taking all of the scenes of Soudwave out of ROTF and inserting them into the first movie? Examples: Frenzy starts hacking into Air Force One and Soundwave receives the transmission going "Soundwave acknowledges". Or the scene where Frenzy locates the Allspark, Soundwave receives the transmission saying, "Decepticons we have located the shard (Allspark)", and then it goes to the scene where Starscream contacts the other Cons.
Put Soundwave in the first movie and everything involving the Decepticons and Sam finding the All-spark becomes useless. Just like the second movie, all Soundwave had to do was tap into a government satellite and extract the data. Movie over, Decepticons win.
Why send Blackout to attack the military station to extract computer data when Soundwave could just as easily hack the information from space? Why send Frenzy onto Air Force One when Soundwave could just as easily hack the information from space? Why bother going after Sam when Soundwave finds the location of Megatron and the All-Spark by hacking the information from space? See where all this is going? With Soundwave in the first film, it makes everything the D-Cons do pretty pointless when there is a much easier way and logical way for an advanced species to go about accomplishing their goals.
smkspy's got a point- the Decepticons actually had to try and get the Iceman files in the first film, with Blackout failing and Frenzy having to deal with several armed agents. If we had Soundwave in TF1, they wouldn't have to go through that trouble at all. He'd get the files himself, with no interruptions, and then probably send Ravage to find Sam.
It's not a bad idea at all- Soundwave might require some reworking, but orchestrating the Decepticons' Earthly movements would be a great role for him in Part 1. Then Part 2 could lead to his satellite hacking.
Yeah, Soundwave could work for the first movie. He could hack the computers enough to find Sam. Then he could act as a General leading the Cons to capture him, and the Autobots show up to protect him. Several battles could occur leading up to the Hoover Dam and Mission City Battles. Of course, all this would cut out the majority of the first half of the movie, but that might not have been a bad thing.
