Insecticons: Fansproject - Shrapnel, Bombshell and Kickback

Hello everyone. Finally found time to take some pictures of these guys. Inspired by the add on kits that Rumble and Spoon are making. Anyhoo..enjoy the gallery:

i almost messaged you about these yesterday because theyre so fantastic.
Im curious abuot:
what did you use for a clip on the ends of Shrapnel's pincer thingys? I see you still have the gauntlets attached to the arms so it doesnt look like you used the original clips?

and how did you mount the head without damaging the original figure?

I guess it depends on if you ever done any customizing before. For me it was pretty friggin easy. But if you've never tried before..it could be a challenge. The good thing though..if you wanted to try this out, is that no mods to the original fansproject figures have been made.

If you're talking about the original G1 insecticon figures..then you will have to damage the heads for sure. But if you're talking about the Fansproject figures..all you do is pop off the original head, take the G1 head and drill a new hole (just big enough for the ball joint to squeeze through). If you look at the back of G1 Shrapnels head..you'll notice he has a giant hole. I just stuck a piece of rubber in there. That will give the ball joint something to move against and it will also make the head not flop around.

I think the FP Insecticons look great... but adding the G1 Antennae on them makes them just unbelievably better!

nice. how well does Kickback's head work on alt mode?

 

Little tricky. In order for the bug head to be properly placed, you need to fold down his antennas toward his chest.

I'm no stranger to customizing but I can't tell where u mounted the new pinchers too on shrapnel...any chance for a clear picture?

 

I got mine today and the head replacements with the OG versions is what really hits this out of the park. I love the chrome too. I'm definitely going to do this to mine. Just out of curiosity, why did you not replace the wings on Backfiery?

 

Well I was planning to, but the G1 wings are just too damn small. I don't think it would look right.

 

Yeah, I figured there was an issue as you've done an outstanding job transferring the other pieces. Really stellar job with the heads though. It can't be said enough how much these improve the characters so much.
