I didn't see a thread on this, probably because people didn't want to attract extra competition, but now that the final results are posted....One of the "super collectors" decided to move on and hired auction house Morphy's to run a live & online auction last Thursday....bidding was INTENSE and there's some news (and cringe) worthy prices for pieces like the Diaclone Powered Convoy, Blue Fairlady-Z, Marboro Wheeljack, AFA graded TF's including a Jetfire and a WHOLE LOT more...

    September 13th - 15th 2012 Toy, Sports, Holiday (05 & 11)

Lots of cool pics of some real rarities...some of which went for insanely high, while others were had for a relative steal.

I wonder why no one reported on this before it happened, seemed like a thing some people here would love.

Murphy's is a high end auction house, and isn't a place most common collectors would look for Transformers stuff (and at those prices, most common collectors weren't going to get involved anyway).

Personally, the AFA G1 and before stuff is pricey but not too surprising. What IS surprising are the frankly ABSURD estimates on stuff like Machine Wars Optimus Prime and the Cybertron/Energon toys.

I mean, $100 for an AFA Alternators Side Swipe? Please.

Actually someone on the Robot Japan boards said they made a thread here so I never looked to post one...I wasn't concerned about competition, the stuff I was looking for wasn't the kind of stuff I had to compete with 99% of the TF crowd for (I scored the Daltanias Head / ship for myself) .

I was watching this too. Really blown away by the AFA 85 jetfire for $4500. This was an amazing collection though.

Thanks for sharing... Kinda mindblowing that BT-18 only went for $390. $780 for the unused Diaclone Swoop was okay too, I guess.

I'm assuming all these prices are before the 20% bidding fees?

bt nemesis prime for 390 is not a bad price. Who does estimates on these toys? Alternators are severely overestimated.

Morphy's gets a 20% cut? Sheesh! I don't even recognise half of those vintage figures (some things went for 2-3K+) but that is one damn impressive collection. It's sad that they've now been broken up but oh well - what can you do?

All of a sudden I'm reminded of that movie "The 40 year old virgin"... :lol
