This bit caught my eye. Could the parents be sued? Or would the fact that the kid was 14 mean he was responsible for his own actions? Actually, I think thats fine, its not like the parents forced him into the road?

If true, and the kids injuries certainly support this, would a helmet have saved him? Methinks getting hit by an 83mph car would probably negate any helmet...

he can sue all he wants doesn't mean he will win. Hope he doesn't , I hope the Judge tosses the case outright.

    :lol

But in seriousness, dude is a douche for suing. At the same time, this is what happens when parents don't look after kids who play on busy streets like state routes.

The kid's 14. In other countries far away, that's the age where they are independent, and think like adults.

True, but this is america :p

As for this thread, i honestly expected a really stupid story where someone who brutally killed a kid was suing the parents.(TFW GG posts FTW!)

I didn't expect to see a case of being hit by a speeding car, now at that speed it was likely nothing mattered(and the dudes probably a douche) but i suppose its possible, the case could go through in all honesty, depending on how the judge and what not see it.

He has some points, but he's still the one that sped on the road and did the deed, but then the kid and parents are to blame somewhat as well i guess.

Alpha, my reasons for stating on the above post was that, the kid should be responsible for himself, and it is not the parent's duty, at 14, to keep constant 24/7 watch. I believe this case to be ridiculous as well.

Wow, this is horrible. Going at that speed is illegal anyways, unless this was some random house in the countryside or on a highway! The dumbass' sentence should he extended :mad !!!!

I haven’t read this particular article but read another one on it. The guy is countersuing the parents and he is representing himself. So I think he is just countersuing to spite the parents for suing him and he probably couldn’t get a lawyer willing to take his case so had to represent himself (just my guess). He also probably figures he’s got nothing to lose and nothing else to do in prison so why not.

    Here's what I find odd:

So how fast was he going? Was there a ramp? Was it foggy? These really shouldn't be unknowns.

It’s words from the defendant vs words from the prosecutor (which info was probably gotten from witnesses). I would lean towards the prosecutor (and witnesses).

Hey, if I killed some idiot kid on a Crotchrocket who's going 40 miles past the speed limit thinking he's all that and Superman, I'd be suing his family too.

    I'm making some bumper stickers.
