Brendan Fraiser returns to the Silver Screen in 2008, in the movie adaption of the novel 'Inkheart', written by Cornelia Funke, and A third Mummy film (excluding the likes of Rachel Weisz), 'The Mummy [III]: Tomb of the Emperor Dragon'.

    Inkheart

Meggie's father, Mo (Brendan Fraser), has a wonderful and sometimes terrible ability. When he reads aloud from books, he literally brings the characters to life. Mo discovered his power when Meggie was just a baby. He reads so lyrically from the book Inkheart that several of the book's wicked characters end up blinking and cursing on his cottage floor. Then Mo discovers something even worse--when he reads Capricorn (Andy Serkis), Basta (Jamie Foreman), Dustfinger (Paul Bettany), and his marten Gwin, out of Inkheart, he accidentally reads Meggie’s mother, Resa (Theresa) (Sienna Guillory) into the story.

Brendan Fraser returns as explorer Rick O'Connell to combat the resurrected Qin Emperor (Jet Li) in an epic that races from the catacombs of ancient China high into the frigid Himalayas. Rick is joined in this all-new adventure by son Alex (newcomer Luke Ford), wife Evelyn (Maria Bello; A History of Violence, The Dark) and her brother, Jonathan (John Hannah). And this time, the O’Connells must stop a mummy awoken from a 2,000-year-old curse who threatens to plunge the world into his merciless, unending service.

I can't imagine anyone else but Rachel Weisz for the part of Evelyn. I mean, she has huuuuge boo.... uhm, TALENT! ;)  Cool that they're making a third movie though!

But it can't go wrong if both Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh are in it! :D

    Word.

She was hottest in "Enemy at the Gates," though. That scene was dirtyhot.

"The Mummy" is a guilty pleasure. Fun enough, I'm sure I'll Netflix this one.

"Inkheart" sounds...different, but possibly cool. Still, same kinda genre as "Brothers Grimm," and that was awful.

Damn, Fraser's come a little way since "George of the Jungle" and "Dudley Do-Right."

I remember back when part 2 was being made, she said she wouldn't do another as she didn't want to be always remember or typecasted as that character and said she wouldn't do another Mummy. I guess she was telling the truth. Oh well, she missed a nice paycheck.

I think personally I would have rather her written out, and the kid, then have different actors.

nothing wrong with the kid having a different actor, as he's most likely a lot older now than he was in the last flick, no?

Probably, but I guess I felt he wasn't needed anyways, so I just lumped him in there.

Too bad Rachel Weisz is gone. I'm bothered when they switch actors in a series. And I'm not particular about Maria Bello replacing her. Oh well, I'll still see it. :)

After reading Inkheart... I'm really concerned about the movie. The book just seemed to... Meander mostly and go on and on about how we should care for books more then have an actual story to it.

Yeah, from the synopsis that I read the 'kid' is supposed to be a young adult now (SOILER: It's his first archaeological expedition and he's supposed to wake up the 'Dragon Emperor' by accident') hence the new actor.

I do agree about Weiz not being there though... real shame... especially sense I don't think anyone else can truly pull of that character so well.

As for Inkheart? I will reserve judgement, and maybe the DVD at the Library in 3-4 years.

I read Inkheart and really enjoyed it, although you're right, Tigran, the plot sort of wanders and takes a while. I wonder if that is a factor of the book having been written in another language first, and then translated into English. Different cultures can have different narrative styles. The Never-Ending Story was also originally written in German, and they made it into a movie(s); the book and movie are quite different. The book is a lot slower.

I went to the movies last night and got into the theater just in time to catch the last 2 seconds of the Inkheart trailer, and I was very disappointed to have missed it. It has the potential to be a great story, or it could totally flop. I am really looking forward to seeing Andy Serkis as Capricorn, though! And I liked Dustfinger and his little horned marten. I've been meaning to re-read that book, but I'm going to finish The Golden Compass first.

I think the new Mummy is going to RAWK.
I liked the last two -they are popcorn movies in the purest sense.
But, I will miss Rachel. :(

I saw the trailer for Inkheart when I saw Golden Compass.
I don't know about that -it just looked... off.

Brendan is also in a remake of Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3D.
I could tell by the preview that my kid is gonna love that movie.
