Here is a early version of a mod i am doing to Inferno.

Added a retractable ladder that extends close to 3 ft and has full 360 degrees of movement.

I used the original swivel that the hose/cannon was on for extra support due to the size of the ladder unit.

The bucket will be removable and the ladder will be painted white and the red matched

I took the cannon and am going to make a peg so it can be held like a normal gun.

Grapple will be done in a similar fashion.

    Update
Shrunk the ladder down for a better fit and built a peg so it attaches to his back.

    UPDATE
Painted ladder and darker red(still can't get the color right)

I saw that set. I almost picked it up. In addition, I saw a PERFECT candidate for another ladder, it was at K-mart in one of those pre-assembled easter baskets, the whole basket was $9.99 which means you get a good ladder and the candy is a bonus ;)

You mean you get some good candy and the ladder is a bonus. Don't put chocolate finger tips on the custom.

    Inferno is awesome!

    I did this mod.

It comes from a TRU toy set by Fastlane. It is an emergency set. The size of a small suitcase. But only like 2 inches thick. It was $19.99

I dyed it with cocoa brown color Rit dye to try and color match the light red to Inferno's darker red.

I think I might re-position the ladder forward as the rear end hangs a little far back.

After seeing that the OP shortened the ladder I did it too. I also added a post in the back to attach the ladder in bot mode.

However I decided to keep the bucket.

There is a similar set with a crane arm that might work for a Grapple custom.

So what are you customizers going to do with the rest of that huge TRU set? heh

that's a really cool ladder, but the mount really is bugging me. It's clearly too tall, or designed for a larger truck. that's why the ladder when level doesn't get anywhere near the cab. To be clear, I mean the big piece under the ladder itself that includes the "hydraulic ram" there.

Thats my main gripe with it also.

I am looking to shrink the unit by over half losing the front inch or so and the side kibble, while keeping the hydraulics intact.

I did make a second "gear of war" style mod that attaches to his arm peg.The main problem is alt mode needs another 1/4 to 1/2 inch lift to have full movement.

Yeah sadly I can see how you could make it so that the ladder is lowered, but I dont see the hydraulic bein kept. I will leave it for now. I will look into the Kmart ladder that Frenzy_rumble mentioned.
