Having problems with my internet that i'm sure are due to my router but need someone to help confirm/share knowledge as i'm fed up of being told to turn it off, wait a few seconds and turn it back on again by the tech support provided.

    Cheers

I note your are in the UK. Having worked for 2 DSL based isps I think the info people will want is:

    I.S.P.
    Type of broadband (cable\dsl)
Type of DSL (llu\ipstream) if not a cable
Location of Master socket in comparison to router if not cable
    Make of router and model
Type of connection to router (wifi\ethernet)

If it's slower than it should it, or starting to randomly cut out on you, then most likely the firmware needs to be updated. Go to the router's site, and update. It should make a big improvement.

Better yet if you are adventurous look into a router that supports custom firmware. I love being able to make routers do things the manufacturers never intended, or wanted you to by a higher priced model to do it with.
