Well, I can see that happening.

I mean I bet in 25 years they'll find a way to make 3d movies without the use of glasses, even if it's just a new sense of depth which, honestly, makes a movie more immersive IMO.

I hope not, I'm getting tired of everything having to be in 3D.

It's already being done on a handheld gaming system (the Nintendo 3DS). The only difference is that for the 3DS you have to be sitting in a certain way for the effect to work. Once they figure out how to transfer that concept to a larger screen with people sitting in various places, then I could see that happening.

In 25 years 3D will be old tech. Why do that when you could put in a movie/show into a room, walk into it, and be in the movie/show?

That should be the real goal IMO.

All movies is a complete exaggeration. 3D SOMETIMES works for action and kids movies, but seriously there are other types of movies that 3D just doesn't work for.

I picture holographic imagery. Sort of like Star Trek TNG's holodeck but perhaps not the physical touch and interactive capabilities. But at least the visual impact of it all.

We are just now getting 3D television sets for the house. Yet, only works with selected 3D movies. What needs to happen next is the ability to broadcast any show in 3D. Also, how cool would it be to view older movies in new 3D format by just simply popping in any old DVD in your new 3D DVD player? Mmmmmmm, 3D porn...........................:D
Now, try and watch G1 Transformers! LOL!

It's a fair guess, and most likely to happen. 3D without glasses is already being worked on, and I'm assuming most households will have in five to eight years, give or take. More and more movies are being shot in 3D nowadays as well, and that number is only going to go up, not to mention that the tech will get better as well.

It's just the logical next step after HD. It all depends on whether or not they can perfect 3D without glasses, though, as well as the quality output of 3D movies nowadays. We had some stinkers this year, but I'm expecting it will go up next year, when more movies which were actually shot in 3D will come out.

Believe it or not, but from what I heard that movie actually has great 3D.

Huh. My sister said that the 3D made the movie seem too 'fake'. Different opinions, I guess.

3D has always been a fad that keeps phasing in and out of cinemas... Reckon it always will be. Besides, the current crop of 3D movies aren't exactly showing the 3D business at its best to me.

In 25 years everyone will have already moved on to 5 other different ways to watch stuff, 3D is just another fad (and a rather pathetic one at that, considering most of the "technology" isn't new). I haven't been able to stand James Cameron ever since I heard his remark about how it must be a "sad, lonely world for those who haven't seen Avatar". To me it just seems like he's got a massive f***ing ego, and he acts as though he invented 3D movies.

It's the next level of immersion, but within 15 years, something new will take its place. The only way to be more immersive though would be to physically be influencing the movie...
