Vangelus Review 149 - Impossible Toys TRNS-03 Alicon - YouTube
Thank you, great review.
I wish they had these for $40 and that I could assemble them myself.
Fun, factual review as always V.
You missed one thing that I thought was a huge flaw but turned out to be an error in my transforming of the bot, you made the same error.
The floating Bot head that can fold down...it doesn't. You are not pushing the Ali head/chest down enough. When you have that chest piece all the way down the head loses the ability to fold/flap down. It doesn't tab or lock in to place per say but you will know when you have it right. I think this also helps in that little waist piece staying out.
We agreed on everything, especially the $50 price. I think at $50 these things would sell like hotcakes. It is a great evolution for IT but they still have a distance to go to get to the level 3P's are at. I would like to see them stick to this niche of G1 toys, there is still room....we need Devcon!
Great review, almost enough to make me pull the trigger on an Impossible Toys product after Nightbird.
Damn! I thought I'd figured the thing out. Alicon really could've used an instruction sheet for his nuances.
The thing did need some instructions. I never knew about the spear connector. I also had no clue what the "waist" thing was because I thought I had the chest down all the way and it did nothing. My joint (the green parts connecting to the Ali head) were super tight so I barely got movement out of it. After some fiddling, it loosened up, and I got it down.
I hated the floating head so to see it "lock" in place really made my day.
Once again, your review pointed out all the pros and cons and assessed the figure fairly. Great job and keep em coming.
Great review, Vangelus. It's nice to see a video of this in different angles in both modes.
I'm a little bothered by that floating head. It doesn't tab into anything, does it?
It does look a little too retro for my collection, but for $50 I would have had trouble passing on this.
Great review! Now I'm decidedly... undecided. I really like the G1 look, but I'm not sure if I want to risk getting some $80 with QC issues.
Read my first post. I was bothered by it too but in reality it is not a floating head.
If it helps at all: From my casual observations so far, it seems that the major q/c issues have not hit a majority of the buyers (like, 1 in 10 or so?). The risk is there but it doesn't seem to be a regular occurrence. I'm sure if you go thru one of the major retailers they'll at least be ready to set you up with a replacement if stuff goes wrong.
I think like you said in your review and like others said, these would go faster if they were $50.
With a company with such shoddy history, they needed to reintroduce themselves with this figure with good QC and a $50 price tag.
So I will personally wait for a clearance on this item. I am hoping by Christmas, but thinking maybe next summer.
Nice figure! But I won't spend $80 on it. D: Here's hoping BBTS does a sale or something around the holidays.
Oh Renderform is involved? That is exciting.
And I agree the plastic and the toy design are so of 80s, great touch!
