    Ebay:
453-gram limit on U.S.-bound mail | The Japan Times Online

Effective Wednesday, Japan Post will not ship any packages that weigh more than a pound to the US via airmail. This could mean that US-based TF buyers will have to pay extra for Fed-Ex deliveries or wait several months for surface shipping.

The TF stuff is made in the china/hong kong/taiwan region factories. Nothing TF gets made in japan factories.

to make TF the stuff in the china/hong kong region then ship it all to japan. then ship it all to american buyers is just wasting tons of money in back & forth shipping fees.

I'm sure places like bbts, tfsource have some contacts in china/hong kong where they buy the stuff their. instead of having everything shipped to japan, then having stuff shipped from japan to america.

Shops in Japan can file for a permit to ship over 1 lb to America, shops like CSToys and sponsor HLJ have already done this, so for the most part this wont affect anything. Where it might hurt is eBay and middleman services, but this is supposed to be a temporary measure.

This is going to be a huge blow for the Gundam community(kits are made in Japan, FYI).

I can't see how this helps anyone. I would say more, but there's the politics rule.

Well, that's gonna make MP Rodimus difficult to obtain... Does this affect all forms of delivery? Like EMS?

EMS is effected. Surface (2-3 months) isn't.

So what does this mean for eBay sellers? Is it just from Japan or incoming mail from anywhere?

For Ebay sellers, unless you've got a special account (which takes between 30 and 60 days to get), you can't ship items to the US unless you ship by surface (2-3 months for delivery) or by Fed-Ex.

For the time being, it's only items shipped from Japan.

Just like Omegus said, unless you're buying from an ebay seller or a middleman you've got absolutely nothing to worry about.

HLJ Shipping Unaffected by Japan Post Regulation Crunch
And it's not just HLJ. Other online retailers have posted similar announcements.

It's good news that they are not going to be affected by this, I pre-ordered my MP-Rodimus from HLJ. Pretty much all of my Takara figures have been bought from HLJ over the years.

Practically EVERY online store worth its salt already has a contract with Japan Post and won't be affected by this. Even some middlemen services like Tokyo Hunter have those contracts.

So yeah I really don't think this is going to stop anything.

Ditto, but being Japan's largest supplier, I don't think they would be affected

Damn, ordering a few items I was thinking of picking up soon from Japanese eBay sellers will not be much fun...I hope this restriction isn't permanent.

Plus it'll make filing disputes fun unless eBay/Paypal change their windows for how long you can file a dispute after the item's been paid for.

Because the stuff that people want from Japan was meant for people in Japan.

There will be some interesting things coming up after that economic summit. Fair instead of free trade is a major thing Obama wants to fix though if I were him I'd focus on India and China.
