Hi guys, I haven't posted any of my drawings yet on TFW 2005, so here is one recent one and one older one. Basically, I draw something in my notebook at school, and then scan it, and use MS Paint to color it. However, for the newer impactor, I used photoshop and the use of highlighting and the better tools for a superior work. However. I'm not professional artist, I'm a bored kid in 9th grade, so take it with a grain of salt. C&C welcome. Note: I'm also slightly color-blind, so please don't hate on exact colors Edit: Only now, have I noticed that the highlighting on Impactor stands out too much... perhaps it's because I had previously been viewing it in a well-lit room. Dang-it! Will probably throw up edits later.
Cool! The Impactor is spot-on. I see elements of both G1 and Energon Bruticus in your second image. Was that intentional?
In terms of the elements of G1, I wanted it to be a distinctly G1-style Bruticus, but a bit more modernized, like Universe-Classics. As you may see, Onslaught here yanks a lot of elements from Universe Onslaught (Note: I don't actually use any figures/pictures as reference for super accuracy, I like to go off the top of my head to make them a bit more my own). However, as my first combiner and my first Bruticus was Energon Bruticus Maximus (<3), certain elements were somewhat taken from him, namely the head and the missiles launcher shoulder/arm/connectors (which are similar to how Energon Barricade's [not-onslaught] kneecap/connectors are the missile launchers from his robot mode). While on the topic of pulling elements from established designs, I believe that I subconsciously took many pieces of Animated Sentinel Prime for Impactor. I do still think that I kept him just enough G1-ish to be recognized as Impactor. Also, am I allowed to post on my own thread in responses to comments?
Yeah, I can definitely see the Energon Bruticus elements in the Onslaught / Barricade. The entire head is distinctly E Bruticus, particularly the face and horns. You incorporated the chest plate in an interesting way as well, leaving the chest mostly uncovered like the Energon iteration, while still incorporating the shape of the original as a waist piece. Yup.
