Has anyone else been blocked by IMDB asking for money? Apparently, they're going pro or whatever and asking you to join a 14-day free trial however they will automatically start charging 14.99 a month for you to use this service. I've found that if you want to view the basics about a person/show/movie, then it won't ask you. However if you want to see something in production or that doesn't have a full cast listed, then it refuses to let you view anything and begs you repeatedly to sign up for their IMDB Pro.

Tell me if you've this problem too. And am I the only one who's annoyed by this? For example: try to view Transformers 3.

This is not new. It has been like that for a year or so.

Websites requiring some sort of subscription for extra content isn't new. And it's not like not being able to see info about movies in production is a life-and-death matter. Besides, if you're looking for news on movie 3 it'll most likely break here before IMDB. A bulk of the info on there, like most internet "resources," is user-submitted.

Meh, IMDB Sucks balls anyways. If I wanted to pay 14.99 for anything on the Internet it would either make my junk bigger or be a slap chop.

Yeah I found out about it a couple of days ago. I really hate how services like IMDB want to start charging for things we have gotten free since the beginning. Its not going to work and people will abandon IMDB.

I'm pretty sure they haven't changed what they offer, as they've offered the whole IMDB Pro thing for years now. People haven't stopped going.

It kind of sucks to not get all the info, as well as the "Sign up for more!" stuff, but considering its such a huge site, and the sheer amount of info on it, much of which IS freely available, they have to cover their costs somehow.

That being said, I don't really see much point in signing up for IMDB Pro unless you're really an avid movie buff or in showbiz.

It happened to me sometime last year when I was looking up a movie that has not started in production yet.

That Freecreditreport.com isn't really free, so Ive learned when skipping over the fine print then noticing a $3 charge on my bill.

They're not a charity. They've provided an excellent resource for many years. I don't begrudge them making a profit.

If it's really important to you, you can pay for it, if it's not, you don't have to. There's usually other sources for the info if you want to dig around.

I won't pay for porn, so what makes them think I'm going to pay for that?

There's not much point relying on IMDB anyway. It's got the "user-submitted content" problem of Wikipedia without the advantage that mistakes can be easily edited out, or links to sources being provided.

Or a troll. It's like a breeding ground there. I think the last of them all moved to /b at 4chan finally.

I've been a member at IMDb for quite some time. Made some good friends, made enemies, simple Message Board Experience as I call it.

I just come here for my TF info, or Tformers, Allspark, Seibertron etc.

Ah, IMDb - it's like Wikipedia but you have to pay for certain parts of it. They should pay people to have to look through the message boards though, sheesh.

Interesting. I realize IMDB isn't that great, just frustrating. It seems not much is free these days. Thankfully tfw2005 is. x_^

IMHO, signing up for IMDb Pro is total waste of money. Data on their site is often inaccurate (e.g. they've had wrong and incomplete info about me and my partner, and it's still there even we've pointed it out years ago).

It's really ridiculous that they put misinformation on the site and we should pay just to correct it. It looks almost like a scam.

The IMDB Pro has been charging for that service since I first looked them up in 2007 when the first TF movie was coming out..so they've been doing that for awhile.. if its not on the "free" info, then I just look elsewhere, like here! :D
