...ok so im wanting to buy my IMAX 3D tickets on fandango. Fandango is saying not allowed to sell tickets... so i called Regal and asked: "When can we buy tickets for TF:D OTM IMAX 3D" and the guy laughed he said he had no idea because of the date being moved for the movie the over booked cars in IMAX and said they werent going to be showing the movie in IMAX for possibly a week.. now i dunno about anyone else but ive know about this date change for what a month now. Has anyone else got this story?

I mean its not a big deal just was looking forward to seeing the movie in IMAX 3D.

I plan on going to see it in IMAX 3D in the first couple weeks of July, so (hopefully) there's no problem.

I think that's going to be the problem in a lot of imax theaters.

If they're not selling the tickets for Transformers 3 in IMAX then they were chosen to show Cars 2 in IMAX instead. We're hoping they drop it after a weekend of low ticket sales but they'll have to scramble to get it to everyone else for only a week run. The calling card is to check and see if transformers isn't listed for that theater, check and see if cars 2 imax is.

All the IMAX theaters in my area are simply dropping Cars2 altogether.

yeah, of the four IMAXs in the metroplex, only 2 are showing it on release day and sadly the one I live closest to is neither of those two, so I gotta drive 30 minutes downtown to a mall where theyre showing it at IMAX 3D @ 9pm (I live in Dallas TX)
Now I just wanted to ask: should I buy my tickets online? I know there's only a $1 service fee but $18 a ticket is just too much (even the normal price-$17 is a bit much but with that extra dollar I could go to a coke machine and save 4 dollars...nevermind) OR should I just buy at the BO when I arrive? (mind you I'm arriving 3 hours early) usually with midnight releases I buy online in advance, but since this is a 9pm showing I'm not too sure of how many people are actually aware of the earlier release time (IOW, more people will probably come to the 12pm showing) unless I could be wrong and there are a TON of major TF fans living in Dallas that know about moved-up release time.

any opinions on that would be great! :)

I suggest buying them online I mean 1 dollar isn't going to do any harm because by the time you get there you might cry to the word were sold out or you have to wait 30 minutes to get them. So online and you'll be one happy camper!

That's a shame. Don't the theaters know what will bring them more money?

No, or they would drop the 3D prices to match the 2D. If they did that, I can guarantee they would see a boost in 3D sales. But, they're trying to be greedy, and it's biting them in the ass in the end.

Theaters don't just drop prices. Ticket prices are pretty fixed.

The theaters are well aware of what movie will be pulling more money in the long run. This is a Movie Studios and IMAX decision and the theaters are told what they will do. Everyone here is angry that we're going to do crap sales for Cars 2 (who the hell is going to see a 10:00pm showing of that?!) when we could be selling out EVERY SHOWING of Transformers 3 in IMAX.
3D price difference is also set by the studios, which you should realize from the increase in 3D conversion films, as it's a way to increase ticket sale revenue. If you have to blame the theater for something, stick to the concession prices but even then you have to blame the studios for setting their portion of opening week ticket sales revenue at like 98% with a tiny decrease each week.
This is a crap settlement on both studios and IMAX's part and I'm really surprised it's not making the news.

I would bet that the movie would be sold out by the time you got there, even if you're 3 hours early. I live in Waco and if I remember correctly, ROTF sold out a few days prior (they actually added midnight showings due to demand). For DFW, and with DOTM, I'd assume it would be even worse.
