I don't feel like being fooled again by omgawesome trailers and such, so perhaps I'll wait and see if it manages to stay above 50% from critics like the first film. Of course that's easy to say months away from opening night :)

I knew a girl that based every single one of her movie-watching decisions on RT scores. Our friendship was brief.

You're going to let someone else tell you if you're going to like a movie or not?

Why not go see it? It's entertainment, not a life decision.

Keep in mind, I don't care what they actually say. I just want to see if it rates like the first film(which I liked) or rates like the second film(which I didn't like). If it's closer to the second one, then I'll wait and watch it at home.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to watch DOTM anyway, but yeah, I too am going to take a good look at the RT Tomatometer before I visit the theatre.

'Bla bla fuck the critics' and all that, but it's often spot on if you just want to know if a movie is good or not in general.

I'm still going to form my own opinion, and there are definitely a couple of movies that are considered bad on RT that I like/love/adore, but it really doesn't harm just taking a quick look at the score and reading some of the reviews to see WHY the critics like or didn't like a movie.

The web site is called rotten tomatoes. If you went to a grocery store called that, what would you expect to find? It's a nexus of self-proclaimed film critics trying to impress each other by critiquing popcorn movies, as if they were art films, and expecting to be taken seriously for doing it. The more creative ways you find to criticize a popcorn flick, the more cultured you appear, despite the very nature of associating a flick with a film being laughable. "Let me criticize Piranas one week and The Pianist the next, utilizing the same standards." Yeah, you're a hard core film critic, dude. No thanks. I'm watching this fucking movie in two months even if their "rotten tomatoes" are in the 100%.... I take it back... especially if the rotten-whateveryoufuckingcall it is "100%"

    Ok rant over. DOTFM!

Half of the time when critics pan movies, I end up liking them anyway, so I'm not too worried about it.

I don't know dude. I personally like a lot of the movies that the critics despise, I think they are a bit out of touch honestly.

I don't consider myself to have a bad taste either.

If I was on the fence about it, yeah, I would definitely check the RT rating. Without reading any potential spoilers or a word of what anyone has to say about it, it'll help me make an informed choice. Cinema tickets are expensive, and my time is valuable.

In this case, it's transformers, so I'll be seeing it anyway. I'll probably check afterwards to see how my views line up with what critics and fans are saying.

My guess for DOTM is it'll maybe end up somewhere around the 40s to 50s if it's any good. For a Michael Bay picture, that's a good rating. Thing about Rotten Tomatoes is the big studios try to game the reviews, so early on they try to get a lot of bought-and-paid-for positive reviews out there. When it's been on release for a few weeks, it tends to sink somewhat to a more natural level.

    It depends.

Is it like ROTF where allmost everyone including some of the fans bad mouth it.

I think it's better to go into a Transformers or well any Micheal Bay film with no expectations.
