Here's what I managed to get in Tokyo right now. Encore G1 Transformers Optimus Prime, Megatron and Starscream. I did not get Soundwave simply because I have him already in TF collection and Hasbro commemorative. I've seen a lot of good Transformers during my stroll in Akihabara but I'm controlling my urge to save some money.

Encore G1 Starscream - noticed that I have applied some decals to make him look better.


Encore G1 Megatron - I simply like him because he's shinny and its a gun and yes the pellets/bullet does fire!


Encore G1 Optimus Prime - Its a must! Enough said.

Buying G1 off the shelves is always a gratifying experience.

 

Whoa, I've never looked closely at pics of the Encore releases before.... I never noticed that Starscream's canopy is clear, not dark grey. Is there a reason for that? Is it more authentic to the original release or something? I thought all previous Starscreams had either a grey or orange canopy.

Anyway, nice haul! The figures are classics, no doubt about it.

 

Nice, but put the eye sticker on Starscream! He looks like he needs a cane and a cup of pencils!

 

Stupid question, how tall is G1 Prime? I've been thinking about getting this one to battle a Revoltech Megatron. Weird combination, I know, but that G1 Megs is so fucking ugly I cant justify buying him even if he is oldschool.

 

Why why why did they not give encore prime the Ipod prime's remolded head. It would have been easily a double buy for me. As it is I have 20 versions of him already and don't need another one.

 

those seeker eye stickers are a bitch to put on.

 

I used the sticker sheet and cut little gold triangles and put those on the eyes. I think it looks waaaaaaaay better.

Does encore Starscream have super loose arms like the previous Starscream reissue had? (The one that came out before the bookstyle one)

I too got Encore Convoy today. He's my first G.1 true-look-a-like Optimus Prime MISB. I have the original loose but I wanted a boxed and to $55 shipped from japan that was a good deal.
I really like how his insignia is painted on his shoulders and aren't stickers.

 

Are the silver stickers on Optimus Prime's arm peeling off a little? It looks like they are in the first picture of him.

The reason I ask is I just got mine in the mail and it is still in the unopened box but the silver stickers on the side of the cab are not stuck down completely.

it happens with the thin factory applied stickers, yes.

 

did the other megatron reissues shoot pellets too? I know the pre-TF one did from back in the day.

Yup. All the Japanese releases of G1 Megatron did as far as I know.

 

awesome haul. how much did you pay for each encore?

 

Because then a lot of people wouldnt have bought it. the remolded head looks stupid on G1 prime's body.

This reissue isnt for you then. but lots of other people don't have even one version of him, so takara gave them a chance to get one.

Robot mode is a little off, but where megatron really shines is his gun mode with all the attachments. its a thing of beauty.

never seen a prime or magnus cab where those stickers werent peeling.

I'm really thankful that you took pictures of them out of box. amazing as it is, you're the first one to post pics of starscream and megatron out of their boxes. the new canopy on starscream looks great. megatron's gray plastic definately changed colors too, but it doesnt look bad at all.
