I'm getting more serious about this collecting thing.

Transformers has had a lot of toylines. A lot of variations on toylines. A lot of this, a lot of that. You got all your different Generations of figures, from G1, to G2, to G3, to the Movieverse. Or the Unicron trilogy...
But there's almost always been a toyline for each and every one.
I've found, that I want at least one figure from every Transformer toyline.
As for what I already have...

    G1 - Check.
    G1 - Negative
    Beast Wars - Negative
    Beast Machines - Negative
    Beast Wars Neo - Negative
RID - Kind of check. I have Landfill, but he's getting decrepit in his old age.
    Universe - Kind of check...
    Armada - Check.
    Energon - Check
    Cybertron - Check
    Titanium - Check
    Classics - Check
    Universe (classics 2.0) - Check
    Generations - Check
    Movie(07) - Check
    ROTF - Check
    DOTM - Check
    HFTD - Check
    RTS - Check
    Alternators - Negative
    Alternity - Negative
    Masterpiece - Check

Now, I'm certain that there's plenty lines I'm missing. But I wanna just get the big names down first, before I move on to things like the various 'Masters' (Action, Head, Power, etc.), or the takara versions of all those listed.
In the lines I do not have, who would say is the most recommended figure? Basically, if you were going to have ONE figure from every line, then who would that figure be?

    I can probably track down the lines that I'm missing, and update later, but any help you guys have to offer is greatly appreciated. :}

You have all the main lines down, pretty much. _-masters, Pretenders, and Action Masters are all G1. The Universe 2003 line was basically redecoes from G2 through the Unicron Trilogy. There's a ton of novelty lines like SCF/Heroes of Cybertron and MyClone and such.

I noticed you didn't put Machine Wars in that last. It was a pretty small line though and some people might argue it should roll up under beast machines as they were the same time frame.

I'd add a Beast Wars 2, like Neo it had some pretty awesome toys.

    This is silly.

I mean, why not simply get the figures that you wanna get, regardless of where they come from?

You could never get me to own a Titanium figure and I have zero interest in stuff like Alternity. I don't really see the point in buying a figure that you have no love for, just for the sake of it. If the OP can find at least one figure from every line he is happy to own then more power to him, I've just been down the completist route and all it leads to is madness.

Hmm, kinda agree that you just need to get what you like, but for the sake of the thread...

G1 - I really can't pick one for you, but here is a good start...Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, or Devastator. They are all so iconic.

Beast Wars - The original Ultra Optimus Primal, one of my favorite transformers of all time

Beast Machines - Night Viper is a very neat figure!

Machine Wars - Even though it is not on your list....no particular figure really "knocks my socks off" so if you are into larger figures, I would say the Optimus Prime (G1.5 Thunderclash repaint) or I would go with any of the basic figures from the line

Beast Wars Neo - There are quite a few from this line I could recommend, but simply for its uniqeness and the fact that it is the prime nemesis....Magmatron:ev:

I think I meant to post in the "are you completest thread" but my reply for this one surprisingly works.

I don't know how you don't just go with Optimus Prime/Primal/Convoy for every line. There are easily other great choices from each line, but he's obviously the central character and should really embody what each line is about.

for alts, the subaru mold, mx8 mold, and gt40 mold are the best three mass releases imo, (the jaguar ravage being my all time favorite) prime for that line is probably the worst mold

In response to those saying that I should just buy what I want, here's my reply.
There ARE figures in each line I want, in fact I wouldn't mind having more then one. But I just wanna see what's the most recommended.

Let's talk Alternity. Between Convoy and Megatron, who wins out? Because I seriously want both... but only have the money for one.
