While the 7.1 Sound was great, i think the Sound Design this time was the weakest of the three movies. The Transformations didnt sound that impressive and, most of all (i wonder if anyone else noticed that), there were some reused sounds from ROTF. That wouldnt even be so bad, but they reused the two probably most famous sounds of ROTF: Megatrons famous WHAA-GHAAAA and the dying sound of Optimus that kinda sounds like a computer that gets turned off.
Its worse that both of these sounds were reused in the final minutes of the movie. WHAAA-GHAAA comes into play when Sentinel Prime falls to the ground, im not sure if it was before or after megatron steps in. The dying sound of Optimus can be heard when he looks over the battlefield after he took the head of Megatron.

I think that was kinda lazy.

 

yeah i agree it was pretty weak and when the dread transforms on the freeway the re-use bonecrusher's groan.

 

Movies rarely will create new sounds if they don't have to. In fact, I recall a sound recycled from Beast Wars in ROTF for instance. And I hear that sound all over the place in other movies and commercials.

 

What annoys me about it is that the Transformer movies are also famous for always making new sounds for their movies and having some of the best (if not the best) sound design ever.

 

rotf had the best sounds to me. then movie 1, then dotm.

 

Sounds....it had some of Bays other movies clipped in it....like the island and TF1.
I saw another thread talking about it.....but yes, dotm's sound/soundtrack was weaker and I missed it being shot in imax, f this 3d garbage.

 

Maybe it was just because I was mesmerized by the visuals, but the score seemed nonexistant.

 

ED-209's robotic sound effects from Robocop® is used in just about every sci-film out there.

 

While we're on this topic...Shockwave's gun in the first trailer uses a sound effect from Transformers Prime. I think you can hear it most clearly in the first few minutes of Operation Breakdown.

I agree with op but at least we dont get repeated voice sounds like in some movies were a character makes a groan or a slight laugh and the same sound is repeated right after they make the same sound. (noticed it in green lantern and iron man) but yeah hearing bonecrushers sound kinda bummed me out.
