    Should I wash it first?

(and does this belong in Fuzzy? I wouldn't think so, since I'm actually looking for information)

Be careful not to fall into the chemical and turn into the joker.

I would think the dye would stick better to clean hair, then again I've never done it and have no idea what I'm talking about.

Edit: I just asked a member of the fairer sex and she says to wash it.

No, the active ingredients in shampoo will leave a residue that reacts with the bleaching agent which will cause, baldness, delusions of granduer, mental instability. However on the plus side it will result in above human intellect. That is how Lex Luthor went bald, incase you didn't know.

    /talking out of my ass.

Well.. I can only speak from personal experience. It seemed like it was bleached easier when my hair was dirty. I don't know. wash it don't wash it. its going to hurt either way.

Edit- My sister told me it was the other way around when I bleached it. it was easier when it was clean. so i guess you should wash it.

I was just instructed by the girl who's doing it to not wash it.

I've done it before, and I remember the burning... I just didn't remember if I was supposed to clean it or not. And, well, no offense to you guys, as much as I trust your word (well, when I can tell you're not being sarcastic), I think I'll trust the word of the girl who's actually doing this to me a little more. ;)

But since you guys offered advise anyway, I'll post some before and after pics when we're done, in case you're curious.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR BEFORE HAND

I had a bad experience of that, chemical burns on my scalp and ears. Really sucked. The oils you produce help to protect your scalp.

Can't say, being blonde, I've never had to bleach my hair, or ever change it's color.

You doing this yourself or getting it done? Either way, don't wash it. The few times I did it, I went and had it done. My hair's to dark to be trying to do that shit myself. They (should) specifically tell you not to wash/put ANYthing in your hair beforehand. It never burned, just took forever because it took more than one application to bleach the crap out of it.

Believe it or not... no burning whatsoever. I'm pretty amazed, since I did it once before, and oh wow did it burn then.

Though, come to think of it, I think I washed my hair that time. I did not this time. Was painless and easy, and female friend who was doing it for me was greatly amused, which is also a plus. :)

Anyway, as promised... before and after pictures. I don't know what's going on with the hair in the after picture... probably reeling too much from the beating it just took to try and take any kind of shape at all... so a little fluffy. It's heavy in the before picture cause, well... it's not washed. ;)

Not QUITE as light as I'm going for (said female friend pretty much insisted that I'm going as Legolas for Halloween... and I'm not about to pass up a chance to let her play with my hair), so we're scheduling another session next week (much less drastic, of course). As well as a straightening for the costume, of course, but that will be before we head out for activities.

...and no, I'm not stoned in either picture... I'm just taking a picture of myself and just have a straight and lazy face on. :p

wait a few days and bleech again, use the loreal for men brand. I used to dye my hair a different color every few months, pink, blue, green (would glow under the black light @ bars) Leave the dye in for a bit longer and use a blow dryer on it every so often while it sits

    Thems some wild colors.

This girl seems to know what she's doing.... and if she doesn't, she's not giving me any indications of that, which makes me feel better. ;)  We'll be all set.
