I know that this isn't specifically toy-related, but I couldn't figure out where else to post this: Ikea is apprently selling the Detolf cabinets again. I'm not sure if I'm the only one that didn't know that they are selling them again; but the last I heard was that these had been discontinued last year.

But anyway, I saw them on display in my local Ikea (Woodbridge, VA), and asked one of the associates about them. She confirmed that they had been discontinued last year due to some sort of supply issue, but are now back and should be readily available (I guess until they sell out again!). She checked the inventory for me and my store had 27 of the Black-brown color and 17 of the lighter wood.

So, if you are interested, I guess it's a bit of good news.

Here's a link to the web site for those of you that don't know what the Detolf Cabinent is:

I bought some at the end of last year from the Michigan store. Never heard anything about them being discontinued.

The problem wasn't that they ran out of spply, the problem was that the Ikea had changed their standards on them, and the manufacturer had to make new product to fit Ikea's wants. They have been back in stock since around thanksgiving, I think.

Ya I picked up a couple at my local store back in October after they vanished for about a year or so. Sad thing was none of the employees or in store computers knew what I was talking/typing about so I had to search the warehouse on my own for them - probably not still the case, but that sucked.

I could use about 8-12 more if I ever get around to it. Just not sure I want an entire wall full of these things or not.

I've always wanted to get one, but am afraid our children would simply destroy it.

You can buy third-party locks for them. I bought a few from sellers on eBay and they work fine. Now mine are locked up and safe!

Yeah, they were out of stock for about 4 -5 months (I think from May to September). I finally picked up mine near the end of September.

I love them. I need to get a couple more.
