Then because I actualy saw the shows and I was like FUCK JAPAN

Thankfully months later Animated started airing.

 

You know what will be more troubling than Miko on the show? Fan art.

Miko is Japanese and we've seen that Soundwave has tentacles, it's just got hentai art written all over it.

 

It's always gotta come to that.

 

And as always, Japan will outdo everyone else.

Oh H3LL No... not if I got anything to say about this!

Let's get right back to hatin on Miko (or being delusional about liking her... whatev..)

First, I never mentioned Jack or Raf because I thought they were already safe characters... not perfect mind you... but safe. Jack is grounded and reminds me of a younger more mature Spike for us Geewuners. Raf reminds me of a younger Chip... once again... a nod for US Geewuners!
They work because they're realistic and they're younger and hipper for the goshdarn kids of this generation... ok so no biggie.

But Miko took the Carly mold and just desecrated it in a sacrilegious unholy manner! And I know by today's standards Carly would play an archaic damsel in distress role that would make empowered girls of today just cry foul on. But this Miko is taking it way to extremes!

They are trying too hard with this character and am I the only one who can see this? Oh she's independent, she's an artist, she's brave and fearless, she can rock and roll...etc.! Is there any more empowered roles they're willing to stuff down her throat within the next 3 episodes so she can win your favor!? Why not show us her ability to lead so she can score points as the first Female President? Oh and lets not forget her athletic jock side? Girls can excel at basketball, baseball, football, etc. too!!!


Please... they're trying to create the "every-girl" for every girl watching this show and its just coming off as an annoying Frankenstein's monster.

Whoever compared her to D on Dexter's Lab hit it pretty close. In fact if Miko starts playing the ditsy blonde stereotype... I may not even notice the difference.

 

I don't hate her, but she doesn't bring anything new to the table. Probably because outside of Transformers, the reckless girl character's been a stable for decades. She's Jade Chan after puberty, when you get right down to it.

I do wish she didn't outdo eight-year-old Sari for recklessness and cluelessness, but at least she's amusing. If the Autobots can't have quirky personalities, someone's gotta bring some levity to all the SRS BUSINESS, especially with somber grandpa Optimus over-dramatizing everything.

 

She's a terrible artist, she's not particularly good at rock and roll, and her fearlessness is by far her biggest flaw (as she's stupid).

All these things are pretty obvious if you watch the show.

 

Miko is an accurate representation of what a Transformers fan would act like if they met real transformers. That's the real reason people don't like her. lol

 

Despite my own feelings, Prime is still a cartoon aimed for younger kids. Thus, ALL three human characters can represent archetypes and then they can be over-the-top as to make sure each of those archetypes are clearly understood by a very young audience. While I find fault in each of the three humans, even many who have posted in this thread say that Miko's character is "fun" and even acts believably to Transformers. While I can't fully agree with that, I can see how she was written to be that way for audiences other than me.

Personally, I don't find the character that believable. A toned-down version of her personality might would be believable, though. The hyperactivity isn't unbelievable, but her eager hyperactivity interacting with alien robots is quite unbelievable. Most young girls (and boys even) the same age would genuinely act pretty terrified of alien robots I'd imagine.

 

When I was 6 years old Darth Vader came to my local mall. I was so jazzed to see him I could not sleep the night before. Then I came face to face with(what seemed to be) 8ft of pure evil. I lost my #^$% and cried. I imagine I would have cried if I got caught in a robot battle too. Not sure if all the tears would have made good TV though.

This actually brings up a good point. Have there ever been any incarnations where the show was just 100% robots without any human characters?

Beast Wars is the only one that comes to mind (correct me if I'm wrong) and I HATED BW's....

But my disdain for BW's wasn't because it lacked a human element, (not going to open that can of worms), it was far deeper than that.

So my big question is, why won't they ever take a shot and see what creating a 100% robot only TF show is like? I'm positive it would be just as successful if not more-so than what they got going now.

 

It is pretty funny that she thinks she is a great guitarist.

Beast Machines had absolutely no human characters in it.

So long as your hatred is deeper than TRUK NOT MUNKEY!  , to each their own but personally I quite liked Beast wars, it had character development unlike the G1 toon or the movie robots. If you didn't really care for BW you might like BM because it's a different beast (if you'll excuse the pun) it's far darker though at times does go too far.

On topic, Miko was useless as a character, I've heard comparisons to Sari but to be fair to her, Sari could actually do stuff whereas Miko just seems to have an inconsistent/incorrect accent for her background, just follows the robots around in a creepy stalker way embodying the armada kids behaviour perfectly.

Jack is cool though and grounded in reality whilst Raf is Ok I guess, at least he's not completely stupid like Miko.

Give it time....we're only just past the first story and all we really know about her at the moment is that shes not living with her parents. She could easily turn out to be exactly like sari.

I do get the feeling theres a lot to be revealed about Raf....super good with computers AND understands Bumblebee's Minconese voice, theres hidden stuff right there
