Simple question, if I can get one of these sets and not the other which should I choose? Thanks for the input!
In Soundwave voice...."Masterpiece Soundwave Superior. Masterpiece Sideswipe inferior." And come on how can you not love this guy?
Out of those choices, Masterpiece Sideswipe and Red Alert. Weapon and Medical don't really fit the masterpiece aesthetic, and are too big to fit in effectively with many classics. Plus I'm sure Ironhide and Ratchet will pop up in just a few years now that the masterpiece line is doing 3 or 4 releases a year. Also, not in the choices, but get Masterpiece Soundwave. That thing is beautiful.
Like I tell everyone else , when , and if the opportunity arises, always go with the official. An in this case , Takara bitch smacks any 3rd party release. MP Sideswipe/ Red Alert.
Thanks for the good input. One thing i haven't been able to determine if sideswipe/red alert will be in scale with not-ironhide and ratchet. Does anyone know if they will be, and if not which figures are bigger (the lambos or the vans)? Thanks in advance for helping me out.
From the pics iv seen an give or take the ( official/ unofficial size chart for the G1 bots ) Igears Ratchet an Medical specialist will fit in just fine with Takaras new MP cars.
Scale-wise, I think the PP05w and PP05m will fit in pretty well with MP Sideswipe/Red Alert, but as someone else already mentioned, I don't think they quite fit aesthetically. I don't think they'd look terrible next to each other, but they will look a bit off. I have both igear vans, and I plan on also getting MP Sideswipe and Red Alert. I think the van brothers are excellent 3rd party toys, but if I was forced to choose between one or the other, I would pick the MPs, no question.
If you've been collecting since the early days, seeing Weapon and Medical specialists in the flesh is a great thing to behold. It's taken *only* 28 years to finally get a version of Ironhide and Ratchet that hearkens back perfectly to G1. They fit in well with the classics, and we've already got classics versions of Sideswipe and Red Alert. Now, if you're really attached to Sideswipe (which is possible) and Red Alert (maybe, but I doubt it), then go for them. But the sheer quality of the Specialists, their many, many accessories, and the fact that we finally have a G1 accurate Ironhide and Ratchet make them more than just your typical 3rd party release.
I'd say go for the official MPs, as good as the iGear ones might look, they're both out of scale with either Classics in robot mode, and the MPs in vehicle mode. The moment Hasbro or Takara come out with updates, I have a feeling you'll regret them.
