I was checking iGear's site, and they have a version of their scaled-down MP Optimus Prime ("Faith Leader") - but it states that it's mold has been updated, and it's labeled "SIMPLIFIED".

    What? How?

Does anyone know how they've changed this? I have one of the 1st releases of their purple "Evil Leader", and wanted to pick up a Faith Leader anyhow. The price is better than it use to be -- but how would the 2 molds be different?

    ★PP01 Simplified Version(Preorder&Free Shipping!)

    Thanks!

All you had to do is read the description...

From what I've got, it's the second release with whatever fixes that had, and it's simplified because it comes with less (pointless) shit (read: Orion Pax and Megatron heads, cape, and Megatron gun).

I never messaged them about it, but I was really glad when they released this without all of the extra bullshit and lowered the price. It's what made me pull the trigger.

The fact that the last (second) release came with Orion Pax and Megatron (Yea... Megatron... what?!), and no cartoon head was a shame.

    Hi TJ,

I did - and all that told me was about the accessory list, and the vaguely defined "Molds Improved". That's like saying "New and Improved flavor!" on the box of breakfast cereal. :)

I was wondering if anyone had asked or read elsewhere what improvements were made. Usually, yanking accessories from something isn't an improvement -- but the price drop is nice.

I've emailed iGear about what the mold changes were before I buy. I'll post here if I get a reply back.

Ohhhh, I didn't know you needed actual second release specifics for the improvements. I thought you just needed to know what made it "simplified".

The seperated articulated fingers are gone, because apparantely the ones on the first release were so small that they'd crumble and break straight outta' the box.

Little things like the panels on the arm were made more durable so that they don't break off.

Then, little dumb shit, like the communicators showing bumblebee and kup.

That's all that I know. They basically went and just did little qc fixes for snaps and breaks.

I have the original release, the plastic used is slightly different as well. It's probably worse, but I haven't had any problems. It has a noticeably different texture, though.

The articulated hands don't exactly break, they're just useless. They're made up of multiple tiny hinges at the knuckles that don't hold together for anything, so tiny joints are always falling off for no reason. Took me about 15 seconds to realize at least one knuckle would be lost within the first day so I sealed 'em up in a bag. Not that I can imagine ever using them or anyone ever wanting 'em, but I've got 'em!

One thing I should point out is that the first release- which comes with the alternate Anime Head as well- can not transform with that head on. I'm personally curious to see if they altered the figure or the head to allow for that in the third release... though I sort of doubt it. And you really don't want to be popping the heads on and off all the time. Faith leader's neck ball joint is really small. Again, I've never had a problem, but I can imagine the ball shearing right off if you're switching heads a ton.

If iGear's idea of "Simplified" is to give us a toy without stuff that 99% of us won't ever use, and at a drastically lowered price, I want a Simplified Weapons Specialist and Medical Specialist!

    Really?!

The weapons on those specialists are what makes them worth that price.

And if anyone wants an Evil leader or Ultra leader they better act now. Igear selling the normal sets with all the accessories for $69 shipped.

I rather like the mini Megatron gun that came with my 2nd Edition PP01 Faith Leader. Fits in the MP Seekers' hands much more snugly and is scaled better with them than MP-01/04's Megatron gun accessory (this is sized more for Leader-class sized figures like FP Bruticus). The cape and cab light clips are pretty neat too (and surprisingly high quality, the fabric of the cloak especially). The extra ion rifle with the rounded 5mm peg is awesome for Classics/Henkei Voyager or G1 Prime (or give it to FP City Commander as I sometimes do).

The extra heads and hands are a waste, I agree. The energon axe is a mixed bag since I never quite liked the look of it on Prime and it fits tentatively on his arm at best.

Still, all these extra odds and ends aren't necessary to the figure. The toon accurate head, however, I think is essential for really completing that show accurate Prime look. Glad they decided to include it this time instead of giving it to Ultra Magnus as a purchase incentive (I just bought the head separately/loose off eBay).

That said, I don't have any QC issues with my Faith Leader except for the odd paint app error (some silver paint DIY fixed that right up). Still transforms normally and poses without a problem with nothing broken at all. Treat him as you would an MP Seeker (that is, delicately and keeping in mind he's more display piece than toy) and he'll be fine and look kickass in any collector's display. The fact they improved the mold even more is good news for those looking for a more affordable alternative to MP-10.

Cool. If I already didn't have the toon accurate head, I might have bitten on this. The extra ion rifles would have been nice and I could have used the figure for spare parts for possible projects (not a fan of white redeco'd Primes standing in as UM).

What iGear needs to do is lower the price on their IG-TF001 UM add-on set. Been eyeing this thing for a while now but $60 is too much.

I sure hope they do the same for Ironhide and Ratchet :D
So much pointless crap coming with those, IMO. If I can get the figures only with one weapon each for a lower price, I'd bite.

Seriously?! Those guns look awesome. The only thing I'd take away are the pizza cutters.

Me neither. I bought the Ultra Magnus but he's gonna be my Nova Prime. It was either this or the Titanium Cybertronian Magnus.

Follow the link, see 1st post. $75 with free shipping for the Red/Blue Simplified PP iGear Prime. I pulled the trigger on it about an hour ago. I really liked the initial release of this scaled down MP Prime, and it's far cheaper than the new Takara version.

Yes, seriously. They look nice, but I have no need for "tons" of weapons and gadgets, especially not huge sniper rifles and things like that. One gun is enough, maybe include Ironhide's sledgehammer too.

If you weren't in Norway I'd offer to split a set with you. I'm actually more interested in the firepower.

But I think I'll be satisfied with the Kup set for the time being.
