At this stage it already looks nicer than the Classics mold, the alt mode will certainly be much more distinctive and there's a nice assortment of weapons instead of a stupid jetski trailer/jetpack thing.

The Bumblebee head is also looking nice which bodes well for the VW Beetle reshell of this mold.

If this had a 1:24 scale, I'd be all over it, because I really like the design work on this. As far as "Classics" scale goes, I'm fine with what's already in my collection.

I think it's a fantastic design.

 

I like this better than classics cliffjumper which i sold awhile ago in anticipation. if those are heads for the runas sign me up as well.

Looks good. Proportions don't look THAT bad. And seem to match G1 Proportions just fine.

His bot-mode proportions are pretty similar to his Alternity figure (ie. overly tubby) & what about those clown feet... Still, some colour pics would go a long way towards me opening-up my wallet...

 

I think this is a pretty valid question...

Why are they trying to be so 'clever' with this mold design anyway? Seemed like the "keep it simple stupid" approach worked fairly well with Huffer & Seaspray, and a lot of work went into making IH/Ratchet as close to animation accurate as possible... so why the out of left field approach with the CJ/BB design? It almost looks like they're knowingly making the same mistake Takara did with their CJ/BB Alternities and original MP Seeker mold by hurting the bot mode for the sake of having a real world alt mode for some reason. Just doesn't match their minbots or IH/Ratchet approach at all.

Well, iGear isn't actually the company that designs these things. PP stands for partner project or something like that. Meaning that iGear is just a distributor it sculpter.

Looks great so far! Go go Porsche alt mode! The giant feet looked weird at first but then I thought, is it any stranger than Generation Wheeljack's giant stompers? (And I LOVE Generations Wheeljack.) I definitely dig this mold much more than the Classics versions of BB/CJ!

 

Agreed. Whilst I applaud the effort (better than Alternity IMO, but doesn't equal the clean Classics design) and appreciate what they're trying to do, I think alt mode is compromising bot mode the way it sometimes did in Alternators/Alternity. I know without seeing it that the car is going to look 'too real' in proportions for me (compared to the original toy/toon 'deformed' look). Particularly concerned that the character of CJ's G1 alt mode is going to be lost without the nice chunky bumper at the front.

I'd love to see this mold with a new head as Jazz. Jazz and Cliffjumper were both the same car typer anyways, it's just Cliffjumper was all "Penny Racer" about it.

 

He looks great. And I love what I see from the little heads there  .

 

Do the little heads there mean he could get repainted as Bumblebee, Runabout and Runamuck, or that Cliffjumper went crazy, killed Bumblebee, Runabout and Runamuck, severed their heads and keeps them as trophies?

 

I'm actually kind of digging this design for Cliff. I'm curious to see how much they'll do to differ him from Bee's G1 self. All the official toys have been just repaints of Bumblebee.

 

The small arms kinda suck but otherwise it looks great.
