i give them props for designing alternate heads for the body, but the body is quite a step back from ironhide and ratchet, its even a step back from their minibots

Surprised at all the hate. I LOVE IT! It has the traditional "kibble" in the right areas. roof on the chest. front of the car on the feet, animation correct proportions for skinny ass legs. its very G1 styled and I love that. Head sculpt is good, the weapons included are relevant (from the 3 episode pilot). Its all win as far as I'm concerned. It would be great sizewise if it were a small deluxe or large "scout" - kinda fansproject insecticon sized. I'd go in on this for up to $50 or so.

I actually like this... it very much fits in with the aesthetic not only of Alternators and Alternity, but of the original G1 box art. The chest is acceptable (more compac than in the original concept image we saw), and even the big feet are sort of charming (though they are on the edge of being too much). I'm not sure if I'd shell out $100 for this guy... okay, I'm SURE I wouldn't, but for what he is, I quite like him. If he in the same price range as Alternity Cliffjumper, I'd grab this in a second.

That's sort of what I'm liking about it... if Cliffjumper had ever gotten a Diaclone release, and then was given sweet articulation... this would be it.

I do agree on this count. BB/CJ are probably not the most tempting commodities right now. On the other hand, by working out the basic engineering in this figure, it could very easily pave the way for not only Bumblebee and the Battlechargers, but also reshells for Sunstreaker, Wheeljack, Hubcap, most of the Throttlebots, etc...

These will most likely be a chunk larger. Their Ironhide/Ratchet is the same size as Classics Prime (voyager) so if they're maintaining vehicle scale, I don't think Cliffy will be that much smaller. However, I would really like to see this proto in context with some other figures to get a sense of size.

Igear, stick to doing add ons for existing figures like the kup heads and weapon packs. it's what you're best at.

Igear doesn't make these. They are a distributor for these. They're called PARTNERS PROJECTS PP. That would explain the variations of style and the sudden disappearance of future product.

 

The elbows and inner feet need some work.

It's not really a design worth releasing in that state.

 

Totally agree with this. I obviously don't know what all goes into their decision making, but seems puzzling that igear would make another cliffjumper (and bee & battlechargers possibly) when the market they target is full of those characters (or will be soon).

It's clear they are appealing to the "updated G1" materpiece & classics buyers - put out a a Gears, Skids, Hoist, G1 dinobots, Shockwave, etc and you're only competition is yourself...

 

Not really digging it, hopefully it will look better by the end. The turned his horns into a crest WTF?
