    I, for one, love those shots. There is a ton of detail that gets lost in translation.
    for instance, the prototype of Leader Class Starscream had crazy detail on it. I feel a lot of that kinda faded when the color molding came into play.

    Yeah, I love grey prototypes too. I remember seeing the first pics os Alternators Smokescreen. It looked so bad ass in that flat grey. Then they colored him and he wasn't as detailed anymore. Another example was seeing the first prototype of MP Starscream... The prototype of the toy we didn't get.

    I don't see anything wrong with offering variety. Unless your a hardcore Prime collector and want to get everything (wich would hurt the wallet), you can pick your favorite deco right off the bat, I think it's great. I'm personally only interested in the standard Prime and Magnus deco and I don't care about the others, but it's cool that people that like black Prime, or clear, or gold stuff can get one of those too.

    The mold is there, why not use it to it's fullest?

    Agreed, I like having options. At the end of the day you make the choice... like it, being able to afford it and then if you want, buy it.
