If you had a time machine and could go back to one year of Transformers history and buy at most three toys, which would they be?

I'd go back to 1986 and buy,

Trypticon
Sky Lynx
and the Menasor giftpack.

 

That's tough. I'd go to late 2010-early 2011 and try harder to score Battle Blades Prime, HFTD Tomahawk, RTS Outback and RTS Lugnut.

 

I'd grab a G1 Fort Max (to sell it) and a G1 Shockwave or two (for me).

 

Cybertron Optimus, Cybertron Wing Blade and Fort Max

 

I'd buy a case of Brave Maximus.

 

I'd go back when MP Grimlock and Optimus were in stores and pick em up.

 

Last year and preorder FE Bulkhead, Optimus and Cliffjumper.  

 

You can HAVE your Transformers...I'd be going back to the 70's and pick up some Jumbo Machinders

Wouldn't help. I had them preordered any my preorder got canceled.

But if I had a time machine, buying toys is not what I would use it for. My first trip would be into the future.

I suppose I should actually answer the question though. I would buy 3 Fort Max's to sell. G1 toys do nothing for me and I can already get everything I want.

 

The future, duh. I'd get all of next year's toys and review them early. Then sell them on eBay for obscene prices.

The subscriber boon alone would guarantee a steady stream of fucktons of money.

 

I'd buy a complete set of Microchange first releases, the ones that came in bigger boxes with styrofoam inserts.

Non-TF thing: I'd also not allow my father lend my minty first release Voltes V to my cousin who trashed it.

Masterpiece Starscream
Everything from Classics that I missed.

And issue #1 of Superman and Batman while I'm at it.

1987. I'd buy it all. That is my favorite year of Transformers. I wouldn't even care about buying to resell. I just want it for myself.

 

I'd probably go to around 2009 and buy a bunch of Henkei figures I need while they were cheap. Or better yet, go to whichever year Fort Max was mass released in, and sell it on ebay for hundreds/thousands present day.

 

1987. That's my year, too.

But there was a lot of great stuff that year in addition to Fort Max. Scorponok, for one.

So wait, am I the only one going back to the future or is everybody? I don't think there's enough Fort Max's in the past for everyone?  

 

All the important, pristine, sexy Fortress Maximi and other various G1 figures that go for a pretty penny. I'd come back and sell them. Earn back the money I spent and then some.. I would then go to Canada around December 2011 and use that money to buy as many Prime First Edition figures as I can carry back with me. And then sell them to people who weren't lucky enough to obtain them for MSRP prices. I'm a fucking saint like that. And for myself, I would go to 2005/6 and pick up figures from Cybertron and the rest of the classics line. And then 2009 to pick up what I didn't get from Universe 2.0.
