If you could travel back in time, to one specific store to purchase only one specific transformer, which one would you go back and snag? You can grab the one that'll get you the most profit, the one you never had and always wanted, the on you lost and wish you could get back, etc. You get to pick. Which one would you snag.

Me, I'd grab a perfectly and beautifully packaged g1 Fortress Maximus. It's a figure I've always wanted, and is readily available now but no way I'm paying the prices people want for him.

British Home Stores in 1984: I was allowed to buy my very first Transformer seeing as they were all the rage. I choose Thundercracker, 'cause my friend had Skywarp. Looking back, I think I would have rather chosen Grimlock or another Dinobot.

Well, when I was a lad I seem to remember playing mostly with Cliffjumper, Astrotrain, Metroplex, Skylynx, Mindwipe and Skullgrin. But I don't know. I could own any of them now and I don't. I have no interest in G1s anymore, I don't collect them. I don't have any. What go me back into Transformers was that they were reimagining the characters I loved with modern technology but without completely redesigning them as they had in the movies.

So: Classics. Masterpieces. Third Parties. You know, what everyone's in to.

But my nostalgia is for the characters, really, not the toys. In retrospect the toys were kind of crap in my eyes.

So I guess I'd have to go the profit route. I don't even know who the most expensive TF is. But him, just to sell it and buy all the currently available stuff I can't seem to talk myself into dropping the coin on.

I'd go back in time and buy G1 Fortress Maximus.... and then make a deal with some person for a cheaper item... a sealed Stadium Events game for the NES. Come back to present day and sell it on eBay for $41k. Thats what I would do.

Woolworths in the early 90s when they were clearing out Overlords for £10 each. :(

Toys R Us and Target during 2006, so I could have bought the 10th Anniversary Beast Wars figures.

Back to 1990, The Pied Piper in Thame, Oxforshire. Fortress Maximus was £60. I would have bought them all!

While it would be interesting to get a G1 Fort Max or Soundwave, I would go and join up with HASBRO and steal a Transtech Shockwave and disappear into the future.:ev:

I'd have to say G1 Shockwave or Skyfire, as I never had one, real, knock off, or reissue, then, or since. I've at least had the opportunity to play with a Skyfire, but I don't think I've ever held a G1 Shockwave in my hands.

Some random store in Japan in 1983 to get Diaclone Blue Bluestreak. That is all.

I'd go back to the little toyshop here in Great Yarmouth where I got my MISB G1 Fortress Maximus for £40 in the early nineties and also buy the other four they had on the shelf rather than just the one I did purchase.

Ah, all you Gordon Gekko speculators and your G1 Fort Max.

Out of sheer joy of the toys, I'd get a full set of Combaticons or Protectobots and make sure I never lost the pieces.

What ever I would want to do. It's not worth it.

What's all this about Fort Maxis in the UK?! Always thought we missed out on him over here. Mind you I probably wouldn't have bought him even at the time (seemed like just a bigger Metroplex to me as a kid). But the chance would have been a fine thing!

It would be great to browse a huge US toy department circa 1985 and have my pick of MISB G1s... not sure I could limit myself to just one choice though!

I'd go back to the eighties and buy apple shares and sell them in 2011.

As cool as having a Fort Max would be, I'd love an Overlord.

I'd do this and get on the fort max bandwagon as well. Never had him as a kid and probably won't have him anytime in the near future, pending some kind of encore miracle.

I'd sell my apple shares today as well and buy a high-end gaming PC :lol
