The Hobbit will probably get better once the other two parts are out. The Fellowship of the Ring was received better once the Two Towers came out.

    Mmh, there isnt really one director who i believe could handle it. For example;

Christopher Nolan - good with the political side and would show the effect on humans and the interactions between Autobots, Humans and Decepticons.
Josh Wheddon - good with the characters and interactions between them, good at emotional scenes.
James Cameron - tends to repeat the same plot on a large scale each time

Although they possess some of the talents needed they dont have enough.

Really my dream would be to have Josh Wheadon direct, with Christopher Nolan and J.J. Abrams producing and writing. That would be the greatest Transformers movie ever... of all time.

who do you think puts all that stuff in there in the first place? Taking his entire body of work into account, isn't it quite the coincidence how often this sort of stuff crops up?

Bay works with some of the most talented people in the industry. It never makes much difference.

At this stage I'm convinced that even if you give him a really great script, he'll film the stuff that interests him, and then have them write in some of his own brilliant ideas. And he'll have them throw in some random exotic locations, so he can get a holiday out of it and work up some deal with a foreign government. And then he'll work in some luxury brands and product placement, and call up his buddies at the pentagon and see what they want added in. And then he'll cast the most obnoxious actors that just won't shut up, and together they'll improvise some nonsense that he thinks is hilarious. Maybe there was a brilliant piece of dialogue, and he gives the lines to some underwear model.

Meanwhile all the bits that actually made the script work in the first place somehow don't end up in the final cut.

We gave him a chance, and gave him another chance. I was willing to put all my preconceptions aside. Eventually you just have to accept that if it wasn't third time lucky, it's certainly not going to be fourth time lucky. He's made his mistakes, but he hasn't learned anything.

Michael Bay is a player, he's a hustler, and I don't have a problem with that. But the guy doesn't know how to tell a story, and he needs to go along on his merry way and have no more to do with these robots.

How can you make a live action movie on a planet with giant trees and the population is giant blue aliens?

Just sayin, it worked for avatar so might not be so far fetched.

I love you - I've been saying that Uwe Boll would be the perfect director to take over if the Bay spirit of things is to be kept.

    On topic though:

If it was a proper reboot then Joss whedon for writer, James Cameron as a director

If it's to be a Bayformers clone: Uwe Boll

Don't forget the fact that he can kill off a lot of characters, so I would want see characters drop like flies.

I'd pick any one of the following five film directors.

    Peter Jackson
    Christopher Nolan
    Josh Whedon
    Park Chan-Wook
    James Cameron

    Ebay:
Grabs axe, chainsaw, hammer, box of nails, a small sheet of plywood and heads into the woods....

    Cuts down some trees

    ***hours later***

Ahh such a quaint little shelter to protect me....from this....

I'd be interested in seeing Aronofsky's take on TF's. Maybe Ben Affleck.

And thats total BS. Transformers as a series is best left to Bay.

Joe Carnahan. Even though "The Grey" was unrealistic (what with the Wolves hunting Liam Neeson and co.) he did a great job of conveying the helplessness of being alone in the wilderness. The plane crash scene was the best plane crash I have ever seen on film, IMO....

George Lucas. Just because I want the next Transformers movies to be mostly in space, or on different planets. Love all the Bayformer movies, but it's time to go in a new direction.

    Me.

We'd get a G1 movie about Jazz and it'd make about $13.76 from my own two viewings, but it'd be awesome.

    Del Toro.

So far he's the only modern Director to use Giant Robots and not get panned by critics at the same time.

I'd like a Transformers movie that's more "Action comedy" than pure "BAYHEM". Edgar Wright can deliver "insane action" while also creating tone and have all that in a really funny movie. Phil Lord and Chris Miller can do the same. James Gunn is less... Crazy out there, but GotG has the same spirit at it's core. So all those guys.

For a straight movie, James Cameron and Steven Spielberg are the best in the game when it comes to making blockbusters that double as good movies that people enjoy for more than aesthetic reasons. But JJ Abrams is a phenomenal director as well... He really has tone down perfectly, and not caring about tone is what makes Bayformers so immediately, noticeably bad, as opposed to, say, Star Trek Into Darkness bad. So toss him a good, character driven script, and I think he could do wonders.

Del Toro is great at visual storytelling but I think Transformers might be too straight forward for his sensibilities.
