If Victory was dubbed and localized, what do you think of these names?

What I meant was, DON'T change the name at all. Victory Leo has sense of Badassness to it.

Man, I like their weird do-not-translate-well names.

my second statement was a more general statement not aimed at you.

as for the first look down a few definitions Other Words for Cross • Synonyms - Super Thesaurus
taking into consideration that the name could have been mistranslated to start with, it is pretty hit or miss at times.

Look up the theories on how Artfire is supposed to be translated :lol

    I'd Called Artfire......Flashpoint.

    Also I'd cast.....

Either Tim Daly or George Newbern as Star Saber
and Corey Burton as Dezaras/Deathsarus (DJW suggested the idea)

Holi should have the voice actor who did Goku for Dragon Ball Z

    Deszaras? Piccolo's Voice Actor.

Goryu, the cloest thing to Machoman Randy Savage as possible!

just so long as they leave Star Saber's Catch Phrase, "Let's ... Say Go!" in it ill be happy.

Nice choice for Holi! Yes, I'd like that catch phrase to stick, even if it was just how "Let's seigo" sounds in Japanese. And I can tell by your avatar that you dig Victory.

Interesting thread, Mospeada! You obviously put a lot of thought into this.

I think the amount of localization they would do would depend on how exactly the series was released. It would probably follow the same logic that most anime does, where a DVD release aimed at fans would keep the original Japanese names, but a series aired on TV would adjust anything that would sound silly to a general audience.

Minerva would probably be a keeper, and I think Landcross and Braver sound fine ('course, I'm used to "Braver" from FF7 :) ). Victory Leo sounds normal enough to keep, but you're right that it would probably be changed to Prime considering that Hasbro has been really pushing the Prime concept lately.

No offence, but I still think Flame sounds better than Flameblast. Shockblast never sounded as good as Shockwave either.

At the risk of ruffling a few feathers, I'd prefer Nightbeat rather than the name Minerva.

I would like to see properly dubbed English versions of Masterforce and Victory.
