If this plays very similar to the ROTF game, will you be disappointed?

I enjoyed the ROTF game. I wasn't expecting much but it offered enough to keep me happy. The controls were fine and I had no issue with transformation being used the way it was (i.e once you transform you accelerate, there was no lull in movement)

If this War for Cybertron game is very similar to the ROTF game I wouldn't have an issue. But would you?

    • How different do the games have to be for you to be happy with your purchase?
    • What do you hope is different so you can enjoy this title more?
    • What do you hope is the same?

I'm expecting one word answers based on the thread title but I'll see what happens then respond myself :)

I actually wouldn't have been disappointed if I knew the gameplay was the same. I loved it! People complained that you went too fast as a vehicle and couldn't drive slowly but it obivously didn't occur to then to hold down the trigger a little bit.

But a traditional shooter-style is sweet and I loved GoW.

I'd be fine with it. I will kinda miss the hold-down-to-transform controls from the old game, but on the other hand, it will give me better control of my vehicle mode. Everything else in ROTF controlled and felt just fine. I would have no complaints.

Only thing I'd change to WFC (and it looks like it's been done) is that the jet levels provide more room to both fly around and fly faster, because I felt very sluggish as Starscream in ROTF.

I'd be thrilled. The RotF game had the best control scheme I could imagine for a TF game. It made transforming feel natural.

I'd be indifferent. I enjoyed the ROTF game, for the first few weeks. Then it got fairly dull. I just hope the campaign is longer and less repetitive.

I'd be fine. I never thought there was anything wrong with the control scheme or anything with ROTF, just that the campaign was so boring and cookie-cutter.

I'd hate it. I don't like having to hold down a button to stay in alt mode. I feel press to switch would suit a TF game better as you'd have more control over your vehicle mode.

The campaigns in ROTF felt so repetitive. It was like protect this, escort that, destroy these, go there. Then a boss every third level or so. I also didn't really like the 'hold trigger down to stay in car mode' control scheme.

I hope WfC has a better control scheme and levels. At least multiplayer looks great.

Well, seeing as how I never played ROTF or any of the movie based games, no I don't think it will. Besides, movie based games are almost always crap and I'm sure WFC will be very different, not just in the look of it, and the character lineup but I'm sure also in the quality of the gameplay.

Agreed. I love the controls in the ROTF game, they feel so fluid and once you get the hang of them you can pull off some really sweet moves in multiplayer.

ROTF Multiplayer was (and still is) alot of fun, if a little basic. If WFC can improve on that it'll be good.

When it comes to single player though, ROTF was incredibly dull and repetitive.

I would be disappointed if the campaigns were similiar but I doubt it. WFC will be story driven and have specific missions for what is happening in the story.

The multiplayer was great. I hope they balance the characters a little better though.

The only thing I didn't like about the ROTF game was the time thing. I wish it was more like other games where you could walk around and explore without having to watch the clock and shoot the stupid symbols, but other than that, the gameplay was pretty good

You could do that. All it does is give you different medals, and you could always go back much later to improve your time.

I'd be very disappointed. ROTF had some good things going for it but there was so much crap that outweighed the good for me there wasn't much point in playing it just to squeeze a little bit of enjoyment outta it.

The maps were craptastic and a lot of the controls felt weird. Having to keep your finger on the trigger to stay in vehicle mode was dumb.

The flying mechanics were a lot better than the original movie game but there was still a lot to be desired even there. I think the tiny maps are what disappointed me the most with flyers.

Luckily from what we've seen so far the gameplay looks much different.

WFC putting the transform button on the most likely to be accidentally pressed down spot on the controller (the left stick) is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
