It depends so greatly on specifics that I can't say. If it's a good director I'd be happy. A bad director would make me mad. If TF4 turns out a masterpiece, I'd be happy. If it tanks, I'll be mad.
I'd say Gore Verbinsky would be the best man to take Bay's place, a guy who knows how to do a movie with solid characters, story and action [POTC trilogy, Rango]. But I think they should keep Bay and current scriptwriter on board regardless. And I'd just like to point out something [because I'm a hack who hates to see people happy *twirls moustache*]: Guys like James Cameron and Peter Jackson would never direct a movie about giant robots based on toys [specially James Cameron, with that saturn-sized ego he has], they have their own projects to work on. J.J Abrams? While in a lesser degree than the previous two, I'd say the same rule goes for him as well: Other things to do, and wouldn't care for this franchise. I always suggest Gore Verbinsky because he is a man who knows how to direct a blockbuster with solid characters, story and action, the only thing we don't know about this guy is: Would he stick to the TF mythos? That we will probably never know.
I will be glad that if it was directed by someone other than Bay,James Cameron will be the prefered choice.
id be sad, and a little disappointed because i like what michael did with the last 3 films (especially the previous two).
Just bring in someone who can deal with multiple characters and a substantial plot. Hell I don't think Bryan Singer is doing anything after Jack the Jiant Killer; the first two X- men films were fun and Superman Returns is underrated (abielt slightly dull) so if he were interested I would be estatic. But if anyone like Louis Leterrier or Brett Ratner got their grubby mits on the franchise I might die inside just a little bit.
I've thought about it and I think Christopher Nolan would be a great director, I mean he would make a great reboot series judging by his work on the batman series .
i really don't care all that much. but bay did an awesome job for the first three, so if the new director is any better, i'll be more than happy, but i really don't care all that much.
New director, in a franchise ALREADY established...All I'll say is X-men 3. And Nolan is extremely lucky Batman Forever/And Robin sucked so bad. Ill just say that
It all depends on what the director does with the franchise, which we wouldn't know in full until the movie comes out. Would it really be logical to get happy or mad if they simply announced "So-and-so will be directing TF4!"? No. As I said, we'd have to wait to see what they would do with it.
Bay did win me round somewhat with DOTM, and I think the first film still serves as a good introduction to a live-action Transformers world, so I wouldn’t be baying for blood if he came back to direct TF4. However, a new director would seriously perk my interest.
