Then how are they going to explain the character's looks, voices, and everything else? Or did they finally drop that idea?

Prime isn't connected to FOC. FOC is loosely connected to ALL continuities as a starting point for each and every one of them. the game franchise is (as Matt said) more or less a Transformers bible that Hasbro is putting together

You know how the G1 comic and the G1 cartoon really don't match up at all? It's the same with WfC/FoC and Prime.

that's what i'm talking about. but it says it currently comprises of Prime and the games. meaning those are the only ones in it so far but aren't tied to each other directly. it's still being written and will continue to be a WIP throughout the decade. and HMS talked it over with Hasbro and they decided WFC/FOC would be the starting point

Hasbro is really the only one who says FOC is a prequel to Prime. And the reason is what drives most of Hasbro's decisions: they want to sell toys. As has been stated often, Matt Tieger has stated that it is a prequel to the Sunbow cartoon, FOC ends where MTME Part 1 begins. Also the game hints at its connection to the cartoon in, like, every second scene.

Prime is impossible to connect to FOC, not only are Optimus and Megatron's origins completely different to what has been stated in Prime, Dark Energon itself is a completely different substance, being an artificial, manufactured material that Starscream can create. Not to mention the fact that every character has their G1 personality, not their Prime one; Most notably in Breakdown, Starscream, Soundwave, Hardshell and Cliffjumper.

While there are some inconsistencies with the G1 cartoon, it is a modern and detailed retelling of the first half of the first episode. The basic story and characters are still there, but it has some leniency in the fact that it has to be sellable, so characters like Grimlock make appearances.
Although if you finish the game, you'll see why that's not really a contradiction to the cartoon...

The whole "Aligned Continuity" is a really bad name for it. It mostly just means that all current franchises have vague similarities. With Exodus/Prime, they are quite similar (although Exodus is one of the worst written books I've ever had the mispleasure of reading), but with FOC/Prime, the only similarities are that Dark Energon is in them both, although the DE in the two only share a similarity in the name.

I still don't believe the whole "everything is in continuity guise!" nonsense in the first place. The books and WFC alone have conflicting time lines, and the writers even admit and they're intentionally making their own story elements deviating from the "continuity." So what's the point?

I say they're a continuity family, but not one continuity. The same way how the Sunbow cartoon and Marvel comics aren't the same continuity but are both G1.

Hasbro only says everything is connected because they are covering there ass from answering a million and one questions. Which in my mind this makes it harder and more questions pop up. Anyway Matt him self who created the game said its pre G1 and he only took some parts of Prime for the looks. Like Cliffjumpers head and such. Not his personality just his head. Other then that its G1 re written in a modern taste.

Hasbro has said before that WFC/FOC are the Zero point. The two games make up the seed where the Transformers multiverse originates.

Prime, Armada, G1 etc, if you talked to the Bots/cons you'd get stories that are either bang on or damn close to what we've played through.
