Didn't we just have a thread asking this yesterday? Someone in that thread pointed out we've already had other voice actors play Optimus and do a good job with it. Cullen will always be my favorite, but I've enjoyed the RiD, Unicron Trilogy and Animated Optimus Primes just fine.

Peter was out of action with Optimus from BW to Cybertron and then once again in Animated. I think we could survive not having him as the VA, we have been there before.

as has been said before, Cullen is not optimus prime. they are, in fact, separate entities.
Prime has been in the past, and certainly will be in the future, voiced by actors other then cullen. Who'd be good as him? well, all the past prime actors have their merits. and whose to say someone completely new couldn't do a good job?

I respectively disagree. This isn't a Geewun perspective or anything, but IMO Cullen has earned the title of THE Optimus Prime. He will always be Optimus Prime to me when I see him at BotCon or hear the name Optimus Prime. Just my personal 2 cents.

With that being said there are many other voice actors who have done an exceptional job at voicing the Autobot leader. I particularly like David Kaye's interpretation of a younger Optimus Prime.

I respectfully agree to disagree. To me I associate optimus prime to other voice actors moreso, but that's just my experience and I can see why people associate Cullen to OP the most.

Well, given that I'd like to see a younger Optimus a la Animated, I'd go with David Kaye.

If i wanted a more grizzled OP, I'd pick garry Chalk. He has that stern but fair tone to his voice.

    Yeah, THE Prime.

But we've had Optimus Primes who weren't THE Prime, and I think we'll have a lot more of them in the future as well. I see all of them as different characters. Animated Optimus is as far away from original Optimus as someone like Star Saber is. At the end of the day, Animated Prime or Armada Prime or even TFP Prime is a different character who just happens to have the same name and similar aesthetic.

This!:)  Peter is Optimus to me. I've heard the other voices and I just cannot get into them, it just doesn't FEEL like Optimus to me. I'm sure there will be many other voices for him, but the only one I wish to hear, the only one that FEELS right, is Peter.

Patrick Warburton as a douchebaggier, alcoholic ex-football coach Optimus Prime. You know it would be amazing.

Patrick fucking Warburton. With the mannerisms of the Adam West Batman.

Also give me T-Pain with a vocoder as Blaster and get a necromancer to summon Macho Man Randy Savage with some unholy voodoo magic from the grave to voice Brawn.

You know it would be the best Transformers show ever.

I swear for some people Transformers ended in 1987 and didn't restart until 2007.

For some, it ended and didn't restart in 2007. But I'm not sure what in this thread is proof of it. It's not a crime or sign of intolerance to have a favorite actor for a specific role. Especially when that actor originated the role, and is still alive and still working.

There have been other actors to portray Yoda. Is it a crime that I prefer Frank Oz? I prefer Yasuo Yamada as Lupin III more than anyone to come along since. It doesn't mean I'm intolerant. I prefer Casey Kasem as Shaggy. That doesn't mean I think Scooby-Doo ended in 199x or whenever it was Kasem stopped doing it.

As great as Peter Cullen is as Optimus, I think Garry Chalk and David Kaye were excellent as Optimus Prime.

But if we were going to have another Peter Cullen esque Optimus Prime i think either Kevin Conroy or Michael Dorn would be ace as Optimus Prime.

Good choices, I think a Kevin Conroy voiced TF would sound awesome. Michael Dorn's a great VA too, he'd also make for a good TF.

I'd also suggest Keith David, he's another top VA (Goliath on Gargoyles), again I'd love to see him doing Transformers.
