There seems to be a plot-hole here. If megatron needed Optimus and Sam to find the matrix, then Megatron did not really need to help the Fallen, when he was fighting Optimus at the end, has the plan was to revive sentinal. There seems to be hints Megatron wanted sentinal to kill the Fallen, or a better term, he used the Fallen to his own ends. Maybe Megatron has to much pride not to back off from helping his allies, like the fallen.

So what does everyone else think

Megatron was one manipulating son of a bitch and was merely using The Fallen, he intented to unleash Sentinel upon him.

If you go through that logic, you can even reach the conclusion that Megatron was faking his defeat in ROTF.

I think megatron originally wanted the allspark to build his army, and then hopefully use it to revive sentinel, allspark gone, Megs needs energon to use hatchlings uses fallen sun harvester to make energon, would have used matrix to revive sentinel and used space bridge to teleport resources and what not back to cybertron, now in DOTM megatron decides to let the autobots do half his dirty work and find and revive sentinel and bridge cybertron to them and use humans as the starting labour to strip earth of resources or rebuild cybertron

But it seems strange, that why would Megatron be willing to become weaker in DOTM, become a truck missing half his face, and lose his ability to fly. But maybe you mean he faked his death in another way

I'm thinking his original plan was a little more crude. Defeat the Autobots, then crush the humans and scour the planet themselves.

I think he intended to fake his defeat, but he underestimated Optimus' sheer badassery, and ended up with half of his face missing.

For me Megatron was never was the same since his death in TF1. He was a beast in terms of a leader, that was megatron when he was a warrior, when he could take on any prime. But you can see in ROTF he was never the same, and in DOTM we see how broken he is, in terms if weapons and ability to fly. But his strength in DOTM, when he ripped sentinal apart we can see what he can do, and he was still a force

But if they blow up the sun, what resources are there to gather? Yeah there's a shitload of raw atomic energy released but if you blowup the sun its going to destroy the solar system and the harvester along with it, thus making it a non-harvester. Plus when Suns go supernova, the force is so great that a Blackhole is usually formed.

Also you would think that megatron absorbs all the info in the allspark even though it eventually kills him. They resurrect him, and he is not any smarter at all....he needs the info that was in the shard that sam touched and needs the fallen to tell him how things work. Yet when sam uses the shard on jetfire...jetfire doesnt have this allspark knowledge, he only knows what he knew before he went into stasis lock.

Wouldnt jetfire's parts enable OP to open up Spacebridges? I though this is what that "Power you've never known" given to OP is, not the ability to fly. Obviously Q can just build a jetpack for OP as seen in DOTM

The Decepticons are portrayed as simpletons, not Warriors on the wrong side of the battle.

OMG these writers. They talk about trying to keep things simple and realistic but do the opposite.

There are other suns on the universe, they would simply search for them and Harvest [like the Primes used to do].
But first, using the energy of our sun harvesting, they would bring forth a new army of DOOM to conquer the universe.

That was ironically, a pretty good plan.

The AllSpark seems to be sentient, so "he" probably picks the person who will carry the infinite knowledge well, not just give to any person who touches "him".

Perhaps, but Jetfire's parts were greatly damaged on the Egypt Battle.

I think the Fallen was intended to just be used, but there was always a chance that the Sun harvester would work, and they'd get the energy and resource they needed... and didn't have to use Sentinel, the space bridge, or the humans.

Thing is, they never truly needed Optimus, they needed the Matrix (and Sam to find it). They needed Optimus out of the way so The Fallen can be on Earth with no one who could stand up to him, and there's the possibility that The Fallen was to use the Matrix because Megatron had not earned the right to obtain it. Optimus's revival was NOT part of the plan. In case the Sun Harvester failed (and Megatron had the Matrix), the plan in DOTM was a last resort. But since Megatron didn't have the Matrix in the end of ROTF, that's when Megatron makes a few alterations to his plan that involves Optimus reviving Sentinel for them.

Megatron is crazy, but he's not stupid.

EDIT: Megatron needed the Allspark in TF1 to carry out the plan of building an army (raising the Hatchlings and transforming Earth tech into new Decepticons). But unbeknownst to the humans and Autobots, Megatron was ALSO going to use the Allspark on Sentinel (and possibly his crew), and then rather than taking years to fly the goods back to Cybertron, they'd bring Cybertron to the goods in less than ten minutes.

    Agreed.

They made Sam's coworker give him information, why not Lennox's informant too? They were gonna kill them off anyway.
