You know...I thought of that argument, but didn't bring it up cause I honestly didn't think anyone else would.

And I can't say that I completely disagree...But I still kind of want to see what this Megatron would look like as a tank.

 

Stealth Bomber makes most sense. Tanks are slow and a Helicopter is slower than the jets as well.

If he were to give up his ability to fly, I'd say a tank a la G2, or a Tanker truck like in DOTM  

If he were to keep his flying abilities... A stealth bomber or an Osprey like in Animated

Exactly. As much as I like tank mode Megatron's, it doesn't make sense for this version of him to downgrade to something relegated to land.

 

Well, if he were to get an Earth-based alt mode, the most logical answer would have something to do with flight: stealth bomber, VTOL helicopter or that awesome-@$$ jet-thing that Nacht posted.

My first non-flight mode would be a giant spiky semi like in DotM.  

But I'd also be down for a massive tank, despite the inability to fly.

 

Glad y'all like my suggestion for an Earth mode for Megs. Unfortunately, the picture isn't one of any existing aircraft; it's a completely fictional design I found on DeviantArt.  

The only explanation I can accept for Megatron downgrading himself to a terrestrial vehicle alt mode would be him somehow losing his capability to fly, perhaps via heavy battle damage. Instead of remaining out of action for a full, uninterrupted repair session, he decides to temporarily adopt a tank alt mode and continue to fight while receiving repairs in small increments, adapting to his hamstrung situation on the battlefield and managing to remain a force to be reckoned with. After which, he switches to an Earth jet mode. I think it works from a marketing perspective; this way, we can get two new Megatron toys to fiddle with.  

 

This must be made! Quick cut funding to the schools and make it into a reality!

It could make for a great scene, too, in where Screamer is in the sky lording it over Megatron.
Course then Meg would probably just shoot him down.
