It's a factor because you have a whole team of writers, none of which includes the guy who wrote the last film, trying to research into how to expand on the tf movies. Problem with that was that AOE had already done it. So as a result of trying to do a lot of new shit while already having enough established in the previous installment for a future story, we got a clusterfuck of Galvatron no longer existing, poorly implying he met up with quintessa despite the fact he had zero reason to even come into contact with her, Unicron being pushed as..a threat? Cybertron has now always been destined to break itself into smaller pieces and rake Earth, the knights are now secretly in a underwater ship, the transformers suddenly meddle with ALL human history..

I just have this hunch Kruger wouldn't have introduced so much bullshit because he would've built purely on what he purposely established last movie, had they treated this as a sequel and not some start to a cinematic universe.

Well, I guess that's certainly a factor, but I don't think it should've dictated such a poor outcome. I mean, all they had to do was actually watch AOE. Did any of them actually do that? Because if they had, then how the hell did they create such obvious mistakes? How do you miss Megatron being stranded on Earth and becoming Galvatron, Lockdown's exposition about capturing the Knights and the hand of a Creator in the opening sequence? If they wanted to do the dumb TF being here forever story, to create opportunities for spinoffs and Earth being Unicron to set up sequels, they could've done so in a way that, while utterly stupid, would've at least followed the general direction of AOE, beyond a couple of names like "knights and "creator" being somehow involved, but not the same ones from AOE.

I wonder if Kruger would have explored the ancient Egypt connection rather than medieval times. That probably would have made more sense.

Let Kruger write the story and the other guys write the dialogue.

All of this stuff not only broke continuity, but also hasn't any specific atmosphere and were mostly just dumb and typical. They copied a bunch of conceptions from TF cartoons, Marvel, DC, Star Wars and didn't add anything that really relates to TF-Movies! I personally thought that only russian government has so indifferent incompetent people!

No, his dialogs are much better! In TLK very few dialogs were decent, the rest even for people were poor and soulless. I feel that they worked out only Vivien and partially Burton characters. Cade, Lennox, Santos and ALL TFs written very poor!

It certainly seems they didnt. Especially given that they took events that had already happened in AOE and actually made them worse.

    1. Cade is chased by a group who hunts TFs regardless of faction that has no business eexisting because in AOE, it turns out, their factions matter to the government. TRF just kills everything because it's alien.
    2. Cade is sent around the world. This is made worse because he's unaccompanied by all the autobots except Bee. Reasons? Simply to tell the audience the other autobots are fiercely irrelevant. When in AOE, the autobots came with him because the story was very much so about them as opposed to just cade.
    3. Optimus rides a monster-bot into battle. I don't even need to go into how superior the dinobot charge in AOE is superior to, quite literally, every damn fight scene in TLK.

It's a sad day when the 12 year olds on YouTube making theory videos of the next TF movie ended up coming up with more cohesive and creative ideas than what they churned out in that writers room. "Oh look! We have the writers of iron man! We're gonna blow you away on story!".

    Absolute rubbish.

What I would have done for TLK to link it to AOE, and I'm not a hater either, is the following...

    1. Show some scenes, like two or three, of Prime stopping on planets other than Cybertron. Show that he doesn't know his way, and he needs to look for clues or ask around on alien worlds. Heck, have him stumble upon Cyclonus and his Decepticons on Chaar or some place like that, and rather than pummel each other to the death Cyclonus tells him the way, but Prime doesn't tell Cyclonus his leader is on Earth. These scenes can take place in remote Earth locations and don't need to be all CGI. Show that the universe is bigger like Lockdown said.

    2. Drop Infernocus. Have the Knights be corrupted servants of Quintessons. Prime learns more about the Transformers' origins, and connect the Allspark and Transformium. Have Prime get controlled by Quintessa. However, Quintessa reveals that since she needed living Knights, there was one Knight who was dead: Megatron! Unaware that Megatron survived as Galvatron, the Quints have created a new, truly soulless Megatron, a "Nemesis Megatron" with TLK's Megatron's knightly design.

Furthermore, Quintessa sends her Knights to infiltrate the factions and destroy them from within. The other Knights are sent to other worlds, but Nemesis Prime and "Nemesis Megatron" are sent to Earth for any remaining Autobots and Decepticons there. On the way to Earth Megatron stops on a planet and encounters Cyclonus' group, and they follow their "leader" to Earth.

    3. On Earth you have the AOE Autobots, Dinobots, Cade and company, and maybe one or two new Autobot members. Galvatron is alone, except for the surviving Barricade, who alone among Decepticons knows Galvatron is Megatron.

    4. Nemesis infiltrates the Autobots, and they think their leader is back as is. Sooner or later, controlled by the Quints, he turns on them. Nemesis Megatron brings his following Decepticons to Earth. "Megatron's" crew encounters Galvatron and Barricade. Conflict erupts. Cyclonus and company are convinced by the fake Megatron. With no clear winner, they separate. Later on "Megatron" turns on the Decepticons following him by killing one or two out of the blue.

    5. Now there's civil war on both sides! You have Autobots vs. Optimus Prime in abandoned towns and rural areas. You have Cyclonus' crew vs. "Megatron." All of this happens in the same vicinity. Galvatron and Barricade roll in. Galvatron, in an epic battle, slays "Megatron," and beats up Cyclonus and his Decepticons in Season 3 fashion for not believing he was the real Megatron.

    6. Now Galvatron rides into the Autobot battle, fights Optimus, and ends up saving Prime in a way similar to Bumblebee in TLK. After all, if anyone is going to destroy Prime it will be Galvatron, and it will be on Galvatron's terms!

    7. The Quintessons are still out there. The other Knights are likely still corrupted and other worlds. Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Barricade and some other Cons are still alive, but today things end up okay.

This way you don't need mcguffins (other than maybe whatever the Quints corrupt Prime and the Knights with, but that doesn't need to be a mcguffin. This way what Lockdown says comes true. This way Megatron's new design still gets used. This way you don't need Cybertron coming into orbit; you have tense battle scenes within the factions themselves.

Heck, you can still have some of (not all) the Knights in Camelot in the Dark Ages and have that epic beginning. Just make sure that they were caught by Lockdown at some point and brought back to the Creators and not just be on a ship underwater on Earth all of this time.

Maybe a silly idea, but that's what I would have done.

And then the end scene shows the quints unveiling a massive holographic map of the cosmos pinpointing locations of every character from TF lore and the lead quint snarls in cybertronian language "Get Them!"

    That would be cool!

I'd like to add that there would also be a giant Knight in tow with either Prime or "Megatron" that would fight the Dinobots. That would be pretty sweet. Maybe a little scuffle early on between Galvatron, Barricade, and the Autobots. A little action with Prime in outer space. "Megatron" vs. Decepticons, "Megatron" vs. the real Megatron, Galvatron, Galvatron beating up his own troops, Autobots and Dinobots and maybe even Decepticons vs. a gigantic Knight, Autobots vs. Prime, Prime vs. Galvatron. Those have the potential to be incredibly tense and exciting action scenes if you ask me.

Truth be told I doubt it'd make much of a difference given that TLK would've gotten ripped a new one anyway.

Ironically I think Kruger would have make a better job than this mess. Kruger' style was simple: action over history. This new team of writers sacrified action for history and the history they brought us was confused and messed, stupid. At least with Kruger we would have get the proper action so we could not care if the history was messed up.

SIMPLE? Don't want to be offensive, but you just need to watch the Movies carefully and think more about them. Kruger's TFs are much more complicated. TLK almost doesn't say anything about Cybertronians themselves. Yeah they were on the Earth, but why?

Not for me...2 and a half hours of fighting just for the sake of having a battle between them is not my style but this is just my preference.I do love your ideas about Cyclonus and Prime being confused just searching different planets also the Allspark and all that.

I've just seen TLK posters in Twitter and understood one thing. Too much humans. Intentionally. Even posters have ONLY humans. We never faced it in Kruger's TFs! I remember when I saw Laura Haddock on poster in my theater and Transformers title, I was thinking, what the heck? Where is TFs?:peoples: :mad

Well I never said the fighting would be the entirety or majority of the movie. My point was that the main conflict would be within the factions themselves rather than between them as a result of these Knights controlled by the Quintessons infiltrating the factions. However, I'm glad you like the other ideas.

Well, AOE (a Kruger's TF) did have several posters of only humans as well. There was one for Tessa, one for Cade, one for Shane and one for Ling at least. And not all posters of TLK have only humans.

Kruger' scripts ARE simple. The plot is easy: there's the bad guy who came to Earth looking for something and the Autobots/humans alliance must stop him. Yes, it has his powerful and even deep moments (Sentinel's betrayal, the Autobots leaving Earth, Optimus Prime who question his faith in humanity...) but overall his stories are simple. And I like them that way. Better than TLK who tried to be deep and only managed to confuse us all

I agree with this. I had high hopes for TLK and there were some interesting story elements there but not executed well. Here is the thing, my impression from interviews and behind the scenes clips of DotM and AoE were that Kruger and Bay became friends and Kruger was able to reign Bay in some to get a somewhat cohesive story. Without him we got, IMO, a film almost as bad as RotF.

Potholes aside, these movies would be better if they weren't constantly trying to be funny.

I mean who the Hell wanted to see a character like Brains? A deformed metal Muppet with an annoying voice has no place in a Transformers movie.

Whenever certain movie Transformers open their mouths, I cringe. If it's not an out of place accent like Drift, or just bad voice acting like Crosshairs or Lockdown, it's cliched sound bites like Hound.

Don't get me wrong, I actually like those characters but the voices and dialogue are getting worse with each movie.
