It's a factor because you have a whole team of writers, none of which includes the guy who wrote the last film, trying to research into how to expand on the tf movies. Problem with that was that AOE had already done it. So as a result of trying to do a lot of new shit while already having enough established in the previous installment for a future story, we got a clusterfuck of Galvatron no longer existing, poorly implying he met up with quintessa despite the fact he had zero reason to even come into contact with her, Unicron being pushed as..a threat? Cybertron has now always been destined to break itself into smaller pieces and rake Earth, the knights are now secretly in a underwater ship, the transformers suddenly meddle with ALL human history.. I just have this hunch Kruger wouldn't have introduced so much bullshit because he would've built purely on what he purposely established last movie, had they treated this as a sequel and not some start to a cinematic universe.
