Per this article at Aint It Cool (Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.), they just completed a superb restoration of the original "Jaws", and it's so good that the author wants to see it re-released this summer.

I'm sure all of you (like myself) have seen the film hundreds of times, but would you pay to see "Jaws" on the big screen if it were re-released?

I really wouldn't, because I don't want to encourage movie studios to re-screen old movies instead of diverting funds and personnel into making new ones.

Only if I could see it at an independent theatre. I dont think I'd enjoy it at the local megaplex.

    ooh! Or a drive-in!

    No.

Now, that's nothing against the movie Jaws specifically. In fact, I've never seen it and have no idea whether it's good, bad or somewhere in the middle. It's just that I hate going to see movies in the theatre because of all the idiots that one has to deal with...like the people who are talking on their cell phones, or texting, or guffawing at every single thing, or loudly explaining the plot to their stupid friends, or complaining that it's not like the book, or going "ah no she di'int!" and/or 'yeh dawg!" constantly, or shouting advice to the characters on the screen, etc. Unless it's a movie I absolutely can't live without seeing in theatres, I'd rather wait until it comes out on DVD and watch it at home.

Only if I get to see it with my good pal Marty McFly (Jr). At the Holomax, 3 years from now.

Imagine Jaws having 15 more sequels in the next 3 years. Ugh.

I probably would but would rather just see a screening at my local theater that does that kind of thing.

I've gotten to see lots of old films when my local theater does their summer movie series.

I've often thought that theaters could make money by running old blockbusters.
Star Wars, Jaws, Alien, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Lord of the Rings -there's more.

I would go see Jaws if it were restored, sure.

I love Jaws, but I don't think it's the kind of movie I'd pay to see in theater when I have it on DVD.

I would'nt mind to go see the restored Jaws on IMAX. I remember the summer of 1975 when I was a kid the theatres were always packed with people standing in line to see the movie.

The second movie was filmed in my hometown.

I wouldn't rush out to see it in theatres, but I'd definitely try to take the opportunity to catch it on the big screen. Must've been some sight to see the audience back in '75 when those classic scenes came up. :D

It's a shame that you dislike going to theatres. I understand completely about why you don't like it. Personally, there's just something I love about seeing these fantastic images on the big screen. And I sympathize with you when people ruin the experience.

Also, watch Jaws. Right the f**k now. Fantastic film. You may or may not like it, that's up to you, but I think it's a 'right of passage', so to speak for anybody who likes movies. :)
