If I watch "Cybertron" without "Armada" or "Energon" will I still 'get it'?

I've watched like 7 episodes of Armada and I'm sorely hating it, I hear Energon's the worst of the three, I'm only really interested in Cybertron because of 1) Vector Prime and 2) The other planets they go to.

I know Armada's basically about catching Poke-Minicons, and Energon is about...uhmm...well something about Energon and I think a fat Optimus.

Would I HAVE to watch Armada and Energon to understand Cybertron?

not really, but trust me, you need to watch at least the end half of armada, the unicron battles are the BEST of the unicron trilogy.

    engeron, just skip

    Absolutely not.

Also: Armada gets better. The final 13 episodes are pretty solid.

Energon is the opposite: It starts out okay... but after the first 7 episodes, it goes rapidly downhill into boring as hell territory, and never recovers.

You don't need to watch either to understand Cybertron. On the contrary, watching Energon and Cybertron in sequence will most likely leave you confused, trying to reconcile the two.

Watch Armada from when Sideways shows up onward. It gets a heck of a lot better.

Energon... has a few decent ones, but may be better off skipped entirely.

Cybertron can fully function as a standalone series.

Because it was meant to be I think I heard. Originally it was just meant to be Armada and Energon, but they tossed Cybertron in with it.

Watched all 3 of them myself. Pretty much walked away wanting to kill all kids. Still Aramada produced a great PS2 game.

Agreed with most of the above, I started the series backwards and Cybertron was much better as a "stand alone" series

Cybertron works better without seeing Armada/Cybertron.

I've tried to watch Armada twice and both times ends with me finally stopping forcing myself to watch them. Really REALLY dumb shows.

But some people claim it's amazing so maybe I'll try Cybertron... Then again a LOT of people love G1 and those cartoons are nearly as awful as Armada without rose colored bricks for glasses.

I understood cybertron on it's own, all the rest of the energon, armada kids are annoying. IMO

You must admit that there were good plot threads and developing characters (Ironhide, Skorponok, Inferno, Demolisher, the whole Unicron deal, etc.)... but they were all stomped into the ground before they were even given a chance.

Yeah, it'll be fine. I still say you should watch all the series even if it is a bit of a grind. Kicker will make you wanna pull your hair out.

Just watch Galaxy Force instead. THEN you won't have to worry about this issue :)

armada was good towards the end yes.

energon ... i really liked a lot of it, but stop watching after they stop the cons from reviving unicron. the story kinda fades there ....

cybertron. i liked the idea of it that the TF who went to different planets became different things. wish they'd explore that a bit more actually. cybertron was okay but needed some more plot development and fewer characters to grow with.

Galaxy Force/Cybertron was made to be a stand alone series and was only poorly shoehorned into the Unicron Trilogy. Hell in Cybertron they almost NEVER reference the past series at all save for the black hole being caused by Unicron's destruction.

In short, you should be able to get Cybertron with little to no problem. It's definately the best of the 3.

You can watch Cybertorn by itself and it will still make sense.

I'll also have to agree with the consensus that Armada does get a lot better around the midway point. Especially Starscream. While he may not be the slimy schemer we're accustomed to/love, he's probably the incarnation that probably has the greatest depth...up until that travesty that was his Energon version.

The best thing to come out of Armada, IMO, was their take on Starscream.

Fangirls be damned, it was a fucking good twist on the character.

For me the only saving grace of Armada was Starscream, he was a really well done character. The kids, namely Carlos made watching a lot of the show very painful.

Energon had a couple of characters I liked, Rodimus and Shockblast. Overall I found Energon more enjoyable than Armada.

Cybertron really drags on in some points and can get boring. But I found Scourge to be entertaining.
