    Would you get upset?

People may seem to think that I'm a prude, but there is just some things that are intolerable, even if it is on the web. Name calling is one of them.

It's verbal abuse in the real world, it's verbal abuse in the virtual one too. Doesn't matter to me.

But I guess that's just me. I'm a "whimp" for calling out people who get their rocks off from putting other people down.

Did you really just start this thread? You do realize what's going to happen, right? Anytime you call out a personal fault and make attention to it, you're just going to get a bunch of people harassing you about it.

    Just you wait and see.

I'd be slightly annoyed if someone stooped to name calling but I would just be grateful that the person was being clear that they are incaple of forming an intelligent counter argument and thus saving me the time of reading any further posts from him/her.

    *Sigh*

Here's how this is going to happen.

Members will make fun of you. Mods will also do the same.

A few other members will defend you. They will get attacked harder.

The defending members will have to defend THEMSELVES, when they shouldn't have to.

    The thread will get locked.

And insulting sigs will remain in the forum for a while.

    Or so I'm told.

He touched me in funny places.

I liked it, but that's not the point.

Should we just change the thread to "I'M QUITTING TFW2005" now?

If it makes you feel better, I would probably call you a loser in the real world also.

In fact, I make it a point that I never type anything I wouldn't say in the real world.

When somebody calls me a name on the internet I rarely care - cuz, you know, it's the INTERNET. A bunch of anonymous people typing stuff. Who gives a damn. Man up.

I also have to agree with Kickback - what a dumb idea to start this thread. Do you LIKE the abuse or something?

    If I were really a loser then I suppose I wouldn't mind.

Now, if someone called me "Sally" then there would be some hurt going down.
    For realz.

    Cassandra complex spotted!

But seriously, on the internet people are anonymous and physically removed enough to say things they would normally be afraid to, or unwilling to. But on the flipside, you're getting mad over a snide comment some guy you've never met or seen somewhere else in the world (where, you may not even know) made about you. If its verbal abuse as in real life (though technically I guess it would be literary abuse or textual abuse), then the same things are going to happen: the more worked up you get over it, the more entertaining its going to be for the people who are egging you on, and the lulz will flow. So just take it in stride, just as in real life.

No. No I would not. Because the random mumblings of people I have never nor will ever met have no bearing on my life what so ever. Especially, when the comments in question were not directed at you specifically IN ANY WAY AT ALL and were infact made in jest of the vast majority of other people who were also called losers and infact laughed at the comments as they were a simple joke.

You took a comment THAT WASN'T EVEN DIRECTED AT YOU personally, and you're wrong for doing so.

Lighten up, you'll live longer if you don't sweat the small stuff.

I just hope that, if he does leave, Fosterlager keeps his promise to lock the thread with the Picard image.

In serious discussion: how do most of you guys talk to your friends in real life? I know that "loser" would be a pretty mild term for one of my social circle to throw around. I think the one that sticks most in my mind is when I told one mate's girlfriend to "fuck off and die in a ditch with a rabid dog's dick in your arse." That was universally regarded as a good line, especially by the girl's boyfriend. Good times, good times.
