I couldn't let it lie, chaps, as soon as I saw Amalgamous in my Throne of the Primes I realised he would've most likely been in the Waverider shell in a mainline release (following the Metalhawk/Landmine pattern of identical Primemaster bucks/bodies), and knowing from the Grand Max kickstarter FAIL! that the Decoy Suit would've been Cloudburst's with a new front, I knew I couldn't let it lie - especially with the 'Bots so undermanned on the Mini-Pretender front.

So I picked up an extra Cloudburst whilst sourcing one for PROJECT: ULTRA and, fortunately, he was still spare at project finish that I could go ahead and round out the G1 Wave 1 Autobot Pretenders!
A bit of minor resculpting with Milliput (and a dash of plastic-whittling too TBH), a Graphite Rit Dyemore dipping, a 3P Lego crescent axe, a Kotobukiya MSG plastic piece clipping, GSI Mr. Hobby Aqueous Hobby Color(s) and some Molotow pen acrylics later, plus a wee black 'Bot face reprolabel from Toyhax and we have a suitable rider of the ocean waves!

REUNITED!

 

Amazing work as always dude. At some point, you are going to have to show off a group shot of all these awesome pretender suits you've created in the last year.

Then send said shot to Hasbro to show them what could have been.

 

Awesome! This is something I've been want Hasbro to do since they first announced the shells. He was my only pretender when I was a kid.

Only difference is I saw Prima being the Prime Master using the Waverider shell. I saw Amalgamous as being Longtooth.

 

There really hasn't been a lot of correlation that I can fathom in the assignment of Primes to shells but, as I said, Amalgamous being the Prime for Waverider is the most logical conclusion with Hasbro knocking him out with the Cloudburst body. Octopunch in baby blue & grey as Prima actually runs close enough for me to hang out in my Longtooth, our opinions on it are quite literally inverse!

 

There haven't been a lot of reasonings. I know with the lore some pairings dont make sense. Like solus or alchemist. Both considered neutral or good yet wears decepticon armor shells. I would have liked to seen Onyx have a Chainclaw or Catilla shell.

 

I wouldn't have minded any of the animalistic shells for Onyx such as Iguanus, Snarler, or Carnivac. Heck, Bugly would do me given insects' essential role in natural diversity.

 

I would have also preferred nexus to combine. Wishful thinking though. And now with hasbro having problems may never get the primes missing shells.

 

Waverider frustrated me the most as the LG Grand promo pics literally and metaphorically clearly showed that the tooling for him exists.

@MyTea Boc mentioned doing a group shot of the extra fellas done so far and mid-headcount I realised I'd forgotten to include Crossblades in the roster!

 

For shame! Crossblades was amazing work.

Out of tiny guys, til you realize you can get shapeway backplates to replace the faces on titanmasters.  

I always thought cw legends groove with his head replace with a human alliance figures head and a splash of red paint would make a vroom.
