    The G1 caveman Dinobots would probably just annoy the fuck out of Dinobot so I don't think he'll ever be in group with them.

    And if he was he would probably still be called Dinobot 'cause he's badass like that.

    Why would Dinobot need a name change? Just change the image of the Dinobots, Dinobot starts off as leader with a smart Grimlock as his second in command, with the other four being smart as well. Dinobot falls in battle protecting early humans from Shockwave, making Grimlock the leader, who names his group after Dinobot.

    Seems like a perfect way to work in Dinobot and giving the Dinobots much needed character growth.

    Yeah but Dinobot is more than intelligent. I'm pretty sure most Dinobots have an IQ of 10 at best.

    He's Dinobot. Not a Dinobot. You can't just rename him willy-nilly. He has nothing in common with the Dinobots except they're dinosaurs, and even then their alt modes don't match.

    Agreed. To be honest, I always hated that he was called Dinobot. Its too dull and unoriginal. in fact, alot of BW characters' names were like that(Waspinator, Cheetor, Rhinox)

    Because the toys, and names, were produced first, with the cartoon that gave them such great personalities following. That's why later characters like Depthcharge get cooler names than Cheetor.
