EDIT: Stupid typo. Could someone fix the subject so it says IESB.net? Wrote .com by accident.

Yay STAR TREK if you please! ;)
I'm looking forward to seeing what Abrahms does with the property.

Wow, that article is in need of some editing. Very choppy sentences in there.

    Could be awesome, or horrible.

I wouldn't mind seeing Simon Furman as some kind of story consultant - but NOT as a writer. I just think that he could have some kind of useful input for a broader scope of storyline.

Roberto's a class-act. It's a shame he and Alex won't be back for the sequel.

I think it's important for the producers of the next installment (please say Spielberg will be involved) to look for writers who are fans of the material yet aren't neccessarily "scifi genre" writers. Let's not worry about the genre and just make it GOOD.

And uh... let's try our best to bring back Bay for another go around with our favorite mayhem-inducing Autobots and Decpti-creeps.

Agreed. I want Bay & Spielberg back, but I once again want them surrounded by producers and writers who grew up with the material so that they can balance them out. I think without Desanto, Orci, Kurtzman, & Murphy — Spielberg & Bay would have taken things too far; but without Bay & Spielberg, I don't think things would have been taken far enough. If that makes sense :p

Off topic - I find it amusing there will be a big-budget Star Trek movie, since the previous ones, by scifi-action standards were fairly low budget. Of course, decades of maintaining a high standard on tv means they made Trek look more than it actually cost.

You can like both, you know.

You can like Star Wars and Star Trek. (heck! I do!)

Let's ground it some more: you can like both G1 and BW! OMG! :D  (sorry... too 1996)
