Can anyone tell me when to stop reading MTMTE, switch to ExRID, and then Combine Wars?

Ok I want to get into the current IDW Revolution Transformers books, I am planing on reading WindBlade, Till All is one, MTMTE #1-57, and RID ( now Transformers ) from #1-57 as well. I see there are 7 volumes of The Transformers that ran from 2010-2012 should i bother even reading them? I may try to get All Hail Megatron, it looks like it is the last story before the MTMTE and RID titles. I have seen a lot of the reading list you guys have put up but i don't really need all the side stories.

Picking up from where the first page's list left off, and focusing on chronological order whenever possible (There may be errors because it's way past five in the morning and I've been at this for at least two hours):

    More than Meets the Eye:
    MTMTE #35-43

Robots in Disguise, later Transformers (AKA "ex-RID"):
    TF #36-38

    Punishment one-shot (released digitally as a five-issue motion-comic, and physically as a one-shot)

Combiner Wars crossover event (ex-RID and Windblade Vol. 2*):
    TF #39
    Windblade Vol. 2 #1
    TF #40
    Windblade Vol. 2 #2
    TF #41
    Windblade Vol. 2 #3

*After the initial four-issue miniseries, Windblade was revived for another seven issues, restarting at #1. This is typically referred to as Windblade Vol. 2. The non-Combiner Wars issues were released in a TPB titled Windblade: Distant Stars.

Post-Combiner Wars (ex-RID, Windblade Vol.2, Sins of the Wreckers,** Till All Are One, one-shots):
    TF #42-43
    Combiner Hunters one-shot
    Windblade Vol. 2 #4-7
Transformers Holiday Special: "Choose Me" (Windblade story)
    TF #44
    Sins of the Wreckers #1-5
    TF# 45
Transformers Holiday Special: "The Thirteenth Day of Christmas" (ex-RID story)
    TF #46-49
    Redemption one-shot
    Till All Are One #1-4***
    TF #50-55***

**Sins of the Wreckers was published with many delays due to family emergencies that prevented writer/artist Nick Roche from completing the series within the initially-planned five months. As a result, its final issue was not published until after ex-RID #54 was released. Chronologically, it takes place between ex-RID #44 and #45.
***ex-RID #50-55 and TAAO #1-4 take place roughly within the same timeline.

More than Meets the Eye season 2 finale:
    MTMTE #44-49
Transformers Holiday Special: "Silent Light" (MTMTE story)
MTMTE #50: "The Dying of the Light, Part 1: How Bright Their Frail Deeds"
    ****
    MTMTE #51-55
MTMTE #50: "No Guns, No Swords, No Briefcases"

****MTMTE #50 contains two stories. "The Dying of the Light" story arc, which begins with MTMTE #50's main story, takes place after ex-RID #50. MTMTE #50's back-up story, "No Guns, No Swords, No Briefcases," ultimately takes place after "The Dying of the Light." (This is somewhat counter-intuitive because the story involves time travel, but the last panel shows a "present-day" character from after "The Dying of the Light.")

Titans Return crossover event (ex-RID and MTMTE):
    Titans Return one-shot
    *****
    TF #56-57
    MTMTE #56-57

*****The Lost Light segment of the Titans Return one-shot takes place between MTMTE #49 and #50. Everything else takes place after ex-RID #55.

    Revolution crossover event (EVERYTHING):
Revolution Prelude (8-page prequel included as a back-up story in various issues, also included in Revolution #1)
ROM: Revolution (preceded by ROM #1-4)
    Revolution #1
    M.A.S.K.: Revolution
    Revolution #2

    Till All Are One: Revolution
Micronauts: Revolution (preceded by Micronauts #1-6)
    Revolution #3
G.I. Joe: Revolution (preceded by IDW's entire G.I. Joe continuity, I guess?)
    Transformers: Revolution
Action Man: Revolution (preceded by Action Man prologue and #1-4)
    Revolution #4
More than Meets the Eye: Revolution
    Revolution #5

    ...and we're current!

Is... is this what it's like inside McFeely's head? Because PLEASE MAKE IT STOP.

The trade paperbacks group the issues into sensible 4-to-6 issue chunks and those chunks can be read in more or less the order they were written and published, which is a pretty good order to read everything in if you are buying the trade paperbacks. (If you are buying individual issues as they come out you can just... read them as they come out, and if you are buying the hardcover collection it's already assembled into some kind of order.)

This is really helpful. I'm pretty new to this, and I'm always interested in reading past comic book series. This list made it easier for me to look for them and read them in the proper order. :D

I'm a little behind on my IDW reading, are the events crucial / tie in to the transformers IDW storylines? By events i mean the hasbro multi-property events.

Whats the required reading for Revolutionaries? I've been staying away from Revolution because of how much of a clusterf*** it is but I hear some interesting things will be happening in this series.

Now with the arrival of Centurion (Hearts of Steel Bumblebee) i guess the reading order should now include Transformers Evolutions: Hearts of Steel.

Where does the Optimus Prime and Lost Light series fit in? Do they run alongside Revolutionaries or are they separate?

I think they're concurrent but not connected, I haven't seen any Revolution characters in them. Unless they do a "Dark Cybertron"-type crossover just read them after RID and MTMTE.

I declare this post dead as a doornknob.

[*For the newer comics only, reading the whole series on chronological order will give you spoilers]

Publication order. I've read most of IDW G1 already so a chronological order was what I was looking for, new readers use this to avoid spoilers.

A godsend. I think I'm going to start my own, starting with an order by actual publication date, then by pure chronology, and experiment with hybridizing the two in different ways.

[It turns out Drift and Autocracy are both framed as flashbacks, so I think Megatron Origin will move up to where Autocracy is told from and Hearts of Steel right before Revolutionaries, leaving only the prequel Spotlights before Infiltration]

[Update 2: Done with Phase One and Two and happy with it, though I still need to proofread.
The main selling points of this take this take are
    1) that the Spotlights are in chronological order (with exceptions) and
    2) that parts of the reading order are reversible (to reflect the concurrent publication and separate chronology of some issues)]

[Update 3: Completed Revolution and proofread it. Chronological, again, because it's less punishing.
I will be updating through First Strike and onwards too.]

    [Update 4: New and improved!:

IDW G1 The Transformers Modular Reading Order]
