My bad, the beginning of List 2 does need some work.

    As does list one.

I've been slack recently due to personal issues :/

So happy to find this!!! I'm on my third read-through of IDW's Transformers setting, and looking at this list, I've discovered some errors in my own reading order I've been using. Nothing major, but I had a few things out of place. Thanks for the amazing work!

    Hey guys n gals

First post so be kind :)  Ive just picked up MTMTE and RID both volume1. I'm just wondering is it worth picking up the preceding volumes before that, I know youve said V5 Chaos Theory but would I need to read any of the others??

'Last Stand of the Wreckers' is another piece of 'recommended reading' for MTMTE, which is available as a very nice hardcover edition with a ton of extra material. The 'Drift' miniseries gives some context/backstory to the central 'quest' of MTMTE but is nothing like as essential as LSOTW.

There's nothing especially essential for RID, but you might like to pick up 'Spotlight: Wheelie' and 'The Transformers' #31 as individual issues from eBay or digitally from comiXology. They're definitely not vital enough to buy entire trade paperback volumes just to read them, though.

Here's an odd, but somewhat related question. I know "The Transformers #32" had an "overall" issue number of #125, but what's it at now? Something like 220, right? (Including Autocracy and Monstrosity in the "overall" numbering.)

In Reading Order 1, I'd take out Autocracy and Monstrocity. Not only because they're not very good reads, but also because some of the things that happen downright contradict things said in Chaos Theory and MTMTE.

So I have a question... Is "Dark Cybertron" told via the numbered issues of MTMtE & RiD or does it also have its own stand alone issues?

And for the stuff that's after issue #21 in each series, should I just be reading them in number order (ie 22 of one then the other, 23 of one then the other) or are there more big runs of several issues of one then several issues of the other?

I have the TPB #1 of each series but I was going to catch up on comixology once I finish them.

Actually I was poking around on TFwiki and I think I've got it figured out:

    RiD 22
    MTMtE 22
    Dark Cybertron 1

Then for 23-27 of RiD and MTMtE they go in order, alternating MTMtE then RiD

    The Dark Cybertron Finale.

TF Wiki has "Dark Cybertron" listed as a sub-series where clicking through starting at chapter one goes through the two ongoings in order of the overall story.

Side note: Spotlight Hoist & Trailbreaker are in one of the lists on the first post but not the other.

Thanks so much for putting this together guys!

    Ebay:
Dark Preludes are Spotlight Megatron, Orion Pax, Thundercracker, Hoist, Trailcutter, and Bumblebee, RiD 17-22, and MTMTE 22

Dark Cybertron Chapter 1 is the first part, then MTMTE 23-27 are all of the even numbered chapters, and RiD 23-27 are all of the odd numbered chapters, and Dark Cybertron Chapter 12 is it's own issue

The best way to go about it is to just buy the trades. You get MTMTE Vol. 1 - 5 and RID Vol. 1 - 5 and then get the upcoming Dark Cybertron Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 and read them in that order and vola you've caught up.

Then you get to follow it monthly via single issues just like the rest of us ;)

    The list is great Ady!

I think that aside for the individual issues we should have reading order in trades as well because that's generally what most people who jump into this will be buying.

So for the order 1 I'd go like this
(note I don't put Autocaracy and Monstrocity here because I find them not only completely ignorable but also crap and not a good way to make someone interested in IDW)

Last Stand of The Wreckers (Hardcover edition)
    The Transformers Vol.5: Chaos Theory
More Than Meets The Eye Vol. 1 (collects The Death Of Optimus Prime)
    Robots In Disguise Vol. 1
More Than Meets The Eye Vol. 2
    Robots In Disguise Vol. 2
The Transformers: Dark Prelude (collects Orion Pax, Thundercracker, Megatron, Bumblebee, Trailcutter and Hoist.)
More Than Meets The Eye Vol. 3
    Robots In Disguise Vol. 3
More Than Meets The Eye Vol. 4
    Robots In Disguise Vol. 4
More Than Meets The Eye Vol. 5
    Robots In Disguise Vol. 5
    Dark Cybertron Vol. 1
    Dark Cybertron Vol. 2

OPTION 2 (for the patient ones)

Last Stand of The Wreckers (Hardcover edition)
    The Transformers Vol.5: Chaos Theory
Transformers: The IDW Collection Phase 2 Vol. 1 - ???

That's basically all of "season 1" of the current ongoing.

Couple of separate stories in one issue. Just put them together as some people don't.

Rather than one 22 page story, the issue contains two 11 page stories. #21a refers to the first story, #21b refers to the second story.
