Apple's new iPad is the hottest thing in the tech-world right now. And IDW; the publisher of Transformers comics, has just announced that they will be taking advantage of the device Steve Jobs calls... "magical". As of today all the IDW iPhone applications (including the Transformers comics application) are available, fully optimized for the iPad. See below for a demo video:

Checked my iphone, when I re-downloaded the free comics I was able to pinch/pull zoom in and out!! :D  That solves an enormous problem that Deefuzz highlighted in his video review a couple weeks ago.

If they can add the PSP app's audio commentaries, I might actually start buying stuff on my iphone. ;)

Meh.... I'd rather have a physical copy of the issue to be honest. I don't mind reading digital, it's just....nicer....to have it on hand (no pun intended).

I dont mind digital vs the physical copy. I got too much "stuff" as it is. However the only thing that would make it worth it is if they made available the issues the same day as they came out on the shelves. I've looked at this and the Marvel App and cant see any mention of how quick NEW issues come out.

Glad to see that full-colour comics are finally becoming available on these 'reader' devices; the death of the floppy is soon at hand. I look forward to getting a device like this at some point in the future, but I'll wait until another company comes out with one (I refuse to buy anything from Apple) and the prices come down on them.

DC needs to pull their finger out now. I can't wait to get a full colour reader whether it be an iPad or something else (probably an iPad)

So tell me, does it load Adobe Flash player stuff? If not then fail to you for wasting money on a non-portable iPhone.

Interesting. This will definitely be one of the first things I look into if I ever get an iPad.

yeah, i'm reading almost 60 books a month... its expensive and takes up space... and even now that i sell 2/3 of what i buy as soon as its done, its still alot of work... but if i could buy them each online, for a buck, and not have to worry about selling them, i'd be set... and i'd be able to buy more books too... which would be awesome... but i want them for 1 buck each... 1.99 is too much, considering they're 2.50 (on average after my discount) at my store... and new issues need to come out the same day as the paper issues...

i doubt the death of floppy is anytime in the next 50 years... magazines, books, comics etc aren't gonna die that quickly...

side note, why don't you buy anything from Apple? i've loved everything i've bought from them, so i'm curious...

Flash kills batteries... HTML5 is WAY cooler...

as far as for me, i really hope to have an iPad sometime by summers end... i've played with one and love it... can't wait to see what else i can do with it... its definitely not just a glorified iPod touch, which is sorta what i expected...

Digital might be nice for individual readings... But in a complete form, I'd like to stick with trades. Hopefully it will be a nice cheap price for the digital stuff.

Its good that people can choose to get this instead/in addtion to a physical copy.. but it worries me, I don't want physical comics and books to become a thing of the past, I want to collect and own them 'for reals' dammit!
